Default Thinking about getting a z

Hey, whats up everyone? I'm thinking about picking up an 03 350z coupe with the touring package and I have a few questions about things that I should look for as far as common problems, and things to look out for.

As I said, it's an 03 with the touring package, and it has a little more than 52k miles. It has a few mods done to it such as an Injen cold air intake, Kinetix upper manifold plenum, HKS HiPower true dual exhaust, and some sort of lowering springs. The only thing I noticed when I test drove it is that the clutch engaged pretty high up on the pedal. Is that a common engagement point? Or is the clutch just about worn out? It didn't seem to slip under load, or off the line too much.

A little about me: I'm 26, and I have a degree in auto body repair and worked in the industry for almost 3 years as a painter/prepper. I left that job because I came across an easier, better paying job working for Delta airlines as a ground equipment mechanic. I know my way around an engine bay pretty well, so whatever the car needs, I'll probably be doing it myself.

I currently have a '92 Mitsubishi Eclipse that I have rebuilt from just about the ground up. It has all forged internals, upgraded turbo, clutch, prettymuch everything. On a dyno Dynamics AWD dyno, it makes 305 whp, and runs the 1/4 mile in the low 12 second range. I'll be selling this car to the guy I'm getting the Z from if I decide to go through with the deal.

At 52,000 miles the engagement point may need some adjustment.

I assume there's an adjustment on the pedal linkage under the dash?

Yes. Way up under the dash at the peddle lever pivot point.

Ok. Also, what is this tranny problem I hear people talking about? Is it just that the synchros start to go out?

Not sure about transmission diagnosis. If a member gets a free rebuilt or new transmission under warranty, they don’t care about the technical stuff.

The only year with major transmission problems is 2003.
