Little nervous about buying a used Z
Welcome to the forum. Have a good read of the forum, that will help you to go looking fully armed with as much knowledge as you can soak up. Sure there is some rubbish here too, but you filter that out. Happy Zed hunting.
It's just a Z! The parts are relatively cheap, easy to work on, and no more or less relaible then a Maxima. It's not a supercar, with a $15,000 cutch, or $10,000 of service due every 20,000 miles.
Change your oil, do your maintenence, and drive it like you stole it! And it will be good to you! If you ignore the fluids on ANY car, you'll have issues. A Z is no better or worse in that respect.

If you're going to build for FI, why don't you replace the rings and call it good. From what I've read, the rings were the issue, but I may be misinformed.
I just bought a USED Z and it's worth it, regardless of what you owned before, you will love this car and you'll love the looks you get. Everyone wants to be in the passenger seat, everyone thinks it's a little 4 cylinder and tries to race you, and the handling is amazing.
I have a 2005 Track model with the 300hp rev-up. I do have oil consumption issues, but I deal with them. I love the car enough that its not that big of a deal to me. Just change your oil regularly and you'll be fine.
