Default Just purchased my 1st Z. 05 Enthusiast 6spd

Well folks I just purchased my first Z. It's a 05 Enthusiast 6spd with 24k miles. It has everything except navi. Leather with heated seats, Xenon, Blows sound system, cruise cntrl, etc. I bought it from a dealer because I know about the known issues such as feathering and oil consumption. So due to those known issues, I ended up purchasing from a dealer. So it's certified 100k miles / 7 years power train warranty.

Funniest thing, I put a down payment towards a 09 G37 coupe 6spd and ended up backing out of it. Mainly because I came across the Z which was half the price of what the G37 costs. So I bought the Z cash instead of going into monthly payments for the G37. Besides since this is my first RWD, i'd rather it be cheaper for learning purposes.

Will post pics later on during the week NYC weather sucks right now.

Thinking it would have to be an after market Bose system since the Enthusiast didn't come with the Bose from the factory.

Well according to what my friend (who owns a 2006 Touring Z) is saying. The dealer must have had the wrong trim line in the ad. Enthusiast didn't have BOSE or leather or heated seats. Mine came with heated leather seats, cruise control, xenon and bose. I guess mine's a touring? I take delivery of the car on Monday after work. So perhaps I can take some pictures during the week and post em here and you guys can correct me if i'm wrong.

Yeah i meant to say BOSE instead of BLOWS but I previously had a 2000 Maxima with BOSE sound system. I used to hate it because it was over rated. When I first bought my maxima I was excited because BOSE had such a strong name for a great sound system. BOY was I wrong, it was a huge disappointment. Ever since than I hated BOSE lol. Well for now the car stays stock but in the near future it'll get a sound system upgrade.

I'm also looking around for some snow tires. How is the drive in the snow? I think the car has stock tires since the previous owner BARELY drove the car. Leather barely has any wear and tear signs.

I paid 19gz out the door, I know I could have gotten it for cheaper if I bought the car from a private owner but I wanted Nissan's 7yrs/100k miles power train warranty. So I went the dealer route.

Welcome, doesn't matter what you paid if you're happy with your Z.

Post up those pics when you get the chance.

VDC = Touring/Track

TCS = Enthusiest

A lot of owners that live in snowy areas use Blizzarks in Winter. There's been many a thread devoted to the topic. Have a look through the other subforums. So much info.

Here is an open discussion about warranty. So I thought about oil consumption and transmission slippage on many 03 to 05 models. I went back to the dealership and purchased a platinum bumper to bumper warranty for 3gz which covers everything except tires. It also includes maintenance like oil changes and tire rotation. Warranty is for 7years / 100k miles. Does anyone else have this? Am I wasting 3gz? I mean I just want to be able to sleep at night knowing I don't have to worry about my car giving out on me.

I wouldn't say you waisted the money, especially if it's transferable. But only time will tell if it will pay for itself. It's a good safety net if something major breaks. I relly only think it will be a waste if you sell the car before it expires. But even then, if you have the spare money, and it makes you sleep better, then it was worth it!

I wouldn't sweat the oil consumption, that is mainly with the 2006 and 2007 years. Yes the tranny issue is valid. I'm on my third!! (luckily they were all replaced under factory warranty)

remember this though. the Z is just a car like any other. I'm not an exotic foreign car. It has interchangeable parts with other Nissans, and is built for reliability. So i wouldn't imagine you can expect any majoy issues! (Shy of the tranny issue, lol)

BTW do you have VDC or TCS?

I have a VDC.. I punched it today on 1st gear to see what kind of power is under the hood being that it's my first sports car. VDC kicked in and slowed me down right away cuz I started fish tailing a little LOL. I had the biggest smile on my face .... until VDC kicked in. It's a great option for snow i'm guessing.

Since you said VDC = touring.. I guess I have a touring model?
