Default New owner from NY (questions)

Just picked up my Z today! Love driving this thing.

2007 Touring fully loaded w/ navi, bluetooth, leather blah blah, 17k miles and excellent condition, paid 22.5k came to around 25k w/ taxes+fees.

I dont plan to change much on the car, will get the windows tinted this week and thats really it. I love the sound of the stock exhaust and Im no racer so I dont need to increase the performance of the car. I like the simple look. In the end though, i dont rule out anything.

I have a question about an extended warranty. My factory warranty runs out in a month and I need a new one. Im looking for a 5+yr bumper to bumper warranty. What should I look to pay for this? The dealer offered me 7yr/80k i think for like 2400 but that seemed high. Any ideas of where I should go and how much I should pay? Thanks!

Heres some basic pictures I took with my iphone, I dk what goes into taking a good car pic obviously.

Believe me, I know how hard it is to do this, but with that mileage I would save a couple grand for potential repairs and not get a warranty. Those aftermarket warranties are crap. Too much fine print/red tape, you'll have to pay out of pocket for some things anyway.

Btw that's a sweet ride you have there. I think I saw that one on auto trader recently. Are you anywhere near buffalo/Rochester? Oh yeah, welcome!

I made the mistake of getting the warranty. Generally the Z's are very reliable cars.

I made the same mistake. 2.5 years of trouble free driving with my 2006 model (however, now I've posted this, I guess all my wheels will fall off next time I'm on I95).

there was an article i read a few months ago about people having problems getting problems successfully filing claims with after market warrenty companies. in theory its a great idea just be extremely careful, read all the fine print because theyre looking to screw you.

I have no intentions of getting a warranty from any of these random internet companies as I have heard they are BS. but what about warranties thru nissan? Avoid these too?

Hey yougot. Nice ride you picked up, but as someone who's worked for nissan and infiniti dealerships before (I was product specialist and did private training sessions for many luxury dealerships for a few years). Biggest thing to avoid when looking into an extended warranty is INFACT buying it from a dealer. Extended warranties that most dealers sell ARE NOT nissan warranty, they are 3rd party warranty that pays the dealer to sell their product.
Often times, dealers make more money on extended Warranty and other crap then the car itself. Here's a few things to watch out for:

You can negotiate the price of the warranty. They will try to charge as much as they can on top of what the actual cost is. If the finance guy is any good, he can tell how much he can suck off of you by talking to you in first few mins, so don't fall for it. RESEARCH.
Ask for the name of the warranting company they use- and research it. Read reviews to make sure people don't have problems filing claims. Usually dealer will sell the warranty and then not want anything to do with it. Even if the sales person who sold you the car will want to- its not in his hands to do anything, warranties are 3rd party, and the dealer is just a retailer.
Often times, its not the sales person thats your enemy, its his management. The sales guy might be nice, they want a repeat customer and a good reputation, but, they're constantly pushed to just get you into that "room" where the finance manager sits, thats what you have to watch out for. Sales guy might give you numbers, but the finance guy will do his best to get you to sign off on completely different stuff.
Good luck, hope this helps. Don't get extended warranty on this one, they last a long time, just take good care of it. And this that WOULD break, 99.99% of extended warranties would NOT cover (or there are high deductibles).

Thanks for all the advice guys!

I found this website nissanwarrantystore and its a dealer in CA that runs it. Basically they sell the nissan warranties at great prices. I got a 6yr/60k mile Gold preferred warranty for $791. It covers everything except wear and tear i believe and its a 50 deductible, thats per visit not per fix. Its a good price and even tho I have faith in the Z it makes me feel better knowing I have protection. I also just paid 10% down and pay the rest over 17 months with 0% interest.

NEW QUESTION:

My brakes squeak every now and then, usually when im doing like 50+ and i slow down they will squeak for a bit, I never really hear it when I brake going like 40 or less. What could this be?

Something you'll really appreciate, and your rims will love you for this: replace OEM pads with something better. Less dust, no squeels and not to mention better breaking. Look through some threads on here regarding what people prefer. Get something low dust too (keeps your rims clean.) I got a machine polished lips on my black Axis, and oem pads would dusts it so badly...
