Default Getting my z next week but have some questions?

I have been eyeing these cars for awhile now and am finally getting one next week. It's a Leman's sunset orange metallic 06, automatic, base with 38000 miles. As excited as I am I am a little nervous...you see my husband is flying 1000 miles to pick it up and drive it back home. We couldn't find one around here so we had to buy one so far away. We haven't actually seen or driven it yet...we can always back out of the sale if something is wrong, that's not really an issue. The problem is that I almost feel guilty in getting such a nice car. For the last 6 years I have driven a 94 mustang gt that is pink i color. I got it as a graduation present from my parents when I turned 18. I was so thankful and grateful that I received such a gift. To me it was the best car in the world and I have treated it that way. I promise I wasn't one of those bratty kids driving a $30000 car and wrecking it. I was taught to take car of my stuff. Anyway it's a 16 year old car now and while it's held up well it is to the point I need another one. I am having such a problem with selling it and don't really understand why? I know I am buying a newer better car. I don't know if it's the color of the car or just an emotional bond?

Has anyone went from a Mustang gt to a z? and if so did you ever regret it?

I am 24year old married female who will be using this for a daily driver, will the base model be ok?

I want it to handle well just don't need to race anyone. I have only driven an enthusiast, what's the difference in driving between that and a base?

I have scoured the internet but figured this was the best route....everyone seems to know their stuff.
Thanks

You cant let the stang go because you've appreciated and respected it.
You cant sell the stang because its PINK!
The Z will be a good DD for near all weather minus snow, hail , monsoons and tornadoes.

Make sure to check the car out well prior to purchase, full history, documentation etc. It is low mileage which seems good, I'm assuming an older owner who used it as a sunday driver. I think the 06's had an oil consumption issue with the motor, I am not sure of the range and qualifications for that but I know people have had issues around that year. Could be just the RevUp motor. Do research anyways. Difference in cars is the base does not have a LSD, Limited slip Differential in the rear. So if you gun it one wheel is most likely to spin opposed to two. Should not be an issue if your just cruising around as a DD. Audio/Cruise control functions on the steering wheel, different seats and small creature comforts. not much difference.

After you receive your car make sure to take a pic of you in the car and post it (husbands permission of course). If its a ZRoadster (convertible) And husband oks that both of you drop your tops, even better. I'm sure with all the guys on this site you'll have your questions answered before you even ask them. j/k lol

Enjoy the car and use this site for a wealth of information and knowledge.

The Base model was not available in auto I'm 99% sure.

The engines with some oil consumption issues were the engines in the manual transmission cars only. If it's an auto there isn't an issue.

Really??? Hmm. Did the manuals have the revup and autos have de? I'm curious, just seems odd that its only standards and not autos. Anyone with explanation?

Thanks everyone. You have all help tremendously.
No snow here at all, so that's not an issue.

I know how to drive a stick but just don't want one...I know I Have already heard it from my husband lol

I was under the impression that the rev up engines where in manuals?

Well the website link is....
http://tsgauto.com/newandusedcars/0/...ssan-350Z.aspx

It says base but when we told the bank the vin number it came back as a touring? Which I know is incorrect the rims would be a bit different and the seats would be leather...right? This little detail is beginning to worry me. We have the car fax and seems to have been a dealer vehicle at one time. Let me know what you think.

I think it's an enthusiast!!! It just says 350z coupe on the carfax. It has cruise control, volume controls on the steering wheel and metal pedals? Aren't those signs of an enthusiast. I hope so because that's what I wanted. Much rather have that than a base.

that is not a base for sure. auto's don't offer a base model. rev up models also are not offered with an auto trans.

the leather and controls on both sides of the steering wheel lead me to believe it may be a touring (over enthusiast).

If buying from dealer, just research, have them show proof of what they're saying verbally. Many sellers aren't honest, and they are good at what they supposed to do- sell.

Thanks I think it's a pretty hot car too lol

I think the g is for the color of the interior which is black.

My husband called the insurance and they ran the vin # said it is an enthusiast.
You guys have answered all my questions, sounds like it's going to be a good fun car, thanks so much!!

We ended up paying $17000 for it. I thought it was a good deal as we had been looking for awhile and that seemed lower than others. What do you think?
