Default Just bought a 2003 Track. Love it :-)

Hello,
I bumped onto here while looking for a great place to discuss/learn about the 350z. I just bought a 2003 350Z Track model with 65k. It runs really well. I love the sound, handling, looks :-) of the car. I have always been a big fan. I have driven over 200 miles in the last 2 days. :-)
Read through the 100 commonly asked questions, etc. Anything I should know particular to this model ? It was previously owned by 1 person, and he/she seems to have taken good care of it. I can't stand parking at public lots! I don't know about you guys, but I park - move on inside and somebody denting the side of my car is the ONLY thing that keeps on running through my head. Any tips ?
Anyway, long story short.. I love my Z. Looking forward to the years ahead :-)

Happy New Year!! :-)

congrats on your purchase and welcome. if you plan on modding there are many parts that are widely available for your 03. parking advice? never park next to anybody in a parking lot ever and find a brightly lit area if possible. i'd rather walk a long way than worry about a dent.

Smile ...

Yes, I do plan on doing some mods (nothing heavy) to the car, in the coming months/year. I paid cash for it. The model I have, comes with nismo exhaust, nismo short shifter, and a nismo CAI. The FAQ, didn't mention any of these parts default to the model I have, so I was wondering if the previous owner had it installed.

As for the parking, I'll definitely keep that in mind. I'm going to college atm, and I definitely think I should find a good spot before I park it. lol ... better be on campus 30 mins before class for a good parkings spot.

Thanks anyway
Take care.

Yeah, seems like those are all aftermarket items!

As for parking, whatever you do, just don't take up like two spaces, that will get your problems in a hurry. If you don't want dents, just try to park next to a curb, like at the end of a row. Get as close as you can to the curb (while backing in). This gives you a lot of room between you and the car next to you on the other side!

Congratulations and welcome.

I too drive around the lot several times just to find a spot I think is safe to park in. The GF always hates, "Why can't you just park there? Or how about there?" Response: "Not parking next to a soccer mom or chitty beat up pickup, k thx."

Congrats.
Plus you posted a picture +1.
Enjoy it.

Oh, and don't buy the Brembo brake pads or replacement rotors from the dealer.

Default When you need brake pads

I recommend Hawk HPS brake pads. I have a 2004.5 Track model and the Brembo pads are very dusty. I hated when I would wash my car and spend a lot of time just trying to get the wheels and calipers clean, only to drive 5 miles and see how much brake dust there was. The Hawk pads are much cleaner.

Welcome to the forum!

Short shifter, CAI, and Exhaust are all aftermarket. Just be careful of huge puddles with that CAI.

Btw, how does the short shifter feel? Can you compare to any other Z?

Welcome and congratulations. Nothing unusual about the Track except:

Brembo brakes: Keep this in mind when replacing pads

VDC: Can be finicky with non-OEM tire sizes.

Welcome to the forum. Even if you park at the end of the carpark all by it's self, you'll usually come back to find a muppet parked right up beside you.

Park one side up against something, preferably drivers door, so if someone parks a bit too close you can still get in (long doors and all). Always back into a carpark too so you can drive straight out, given our wonderful rear visability. Lol.

Dont bother with a CAI. Exhaust.. meh depends if you want a louder grumble. Short Shifter?? I don't think anyone has this in there car at this board (I could be wrong)

The Z is usually best stock.
