Default hello Z fam!

Just bought an 04' base model Z a week ago for the price of 5k. The paint job is in great condition it has one dent on the lower rear passenger side of the wheel well. other than that it has 126k miles on it, which is my biggest concern and runs good.
Good deal or a bad deal?

You paid 5 grand for a Z? Man, that seems dirt cheap. But it is an older DE engine with 6 digit miles on it so seems like as long as its running well it was a good deal.

Manual or auto?

Manual trans. The mileage is what is getting to me though. The previous owner had it in storage for five months and had insured me that the last time he replaced the clutch components were in the 90k something miles.

Soooooooooooooooo what are you saying?

Do you not believe the clutch is "new ish"? or do you not believe there is 126k miles on it?

by the way the clutch sounds. it rattles a bit and makes a noise. The previous owner had replaced it before at around "80 thousand miles" (so he says) and it was a factory clutch. I have read that those give out at around 30k to 40k miles. I know I have to replace the clutch.

Does it rattle when you are in neutral and dont have the clutch pushed in? or when you have it pushed in?

yes it does. The rattling presents itself when its in neutral and goes away if the clutch is pressed in. At first I thought it was the lifters and needed an oil change and so I did (either way it needed one. since he had it sitting for five months) The noise was still there and so my second theory was. The clutch.

That is normal for Zs. If I'm not mistaken its the flywheel... THey are just noisy.
Just keep the clutch pushed in and you're set!!

The only way to minimize it is to have a new trans/clutch/flywheel put in... Thats what the dealer did for my 08... but i didnt get a new trans cuzza that noise. I had gear grinds

OP, I agree. Do an LS swap in this thing and all you'll have to worry about is burning through tires

Ha. The LSx sounds beast on the Z.
Dang trans fix too? I would of thought replacing the pressure plate, disk and flywheel would fix the problem, but if you want to do things right might as well do the trans.

Uhhhh, I suggest you do nothing. Search the forum for the "cement mixer noise" or something along those lines. I cant promise that nothing is wrong with your Z, but it seems like the normal noise from the Zs.

My trans was under warranty, but if you want to shell out around 5k for all the stuff I got PLUS labor, more power to ya.....

hey thanks, Ill check out that "cement mixer noise" right now. See what people have said about their trans. I wanted to start off the mods from ground up. My main goal right now was the drive train by getting it a new light weight fly wheel from ACT and "hd pressure plate", but ill second think that for a bit.

Well if you wanna get a lightened flywheel I see no problem. The only reason I haven't is because my warranty still has 40,XXX miles left on it

Also search for noisy flywheel or flywheel noise... I had the same concern when I first bought my Z

The only thing i can do is hope that im taking up the right set up for the Z. I just moved up from a 97' miata with some mods here and there. Driving the Z is a whole new experience. Gotta say its a beast of a car. I just gotta take some precautions so I wont rice the crap out of it.

Im goin to hold you to this. Search for what you are thinking of doing before you do it. Be silent. Don't ask a question until you have searched this forum for at LEAST an hour. Also google will take you to alot of the threads on here directly so go that route..

Dont ask anyone's opinion. Its your car.

But please dont rice the crap out of it
