Not a Z owner quite yet. But soon! Picture heavy
Hey everyone been lurking on the board for a while and have decided since I know I will be buying a z I might as well sign up. So a little about me I live in oregon, I love working on cars I have rebuilt many cars. I started out rebuilding hondas everything from paint jobs to motor swaps. I actually went to school for body and paint although that is not the field I work in. Anyways I have been doing alot of looking at newer cars looked at everything from early 00's vettes, Honda S2000, 350z, 370z, STI and EVO. Pretty much out of all those the 350z caught my eye the most. So Thats what I am looking at buying. I am waiting just a few more weeks for a few things to happen and then it will be time to go Z shopping. Also since I drive 100 miles a day for work the Z will not be my daily driver.
Anyways til then here are some pictures of work I have done in the past
98 civic Ex when I bought it:

When it was done:

Body work and engine swap:

98 Camaro SS:
When I brought it home

After the mods:

Anyways I figured til I get the Z here is stuff for you guys to look at. Since I know how us car guys love pictures

Ha wow tough crowd. Okay so maybe I wasnt just wanting to ramble on about that, I was actually kind of wondering I know alot of people say the HR motor is the way to go. between 06 and 07 is the motor the only difference? thats all I can find but I was wondering if anyone knoew of any other little changes. And really out of the 05/06 models how many ACTUALLY had the oil consumption problem? And people say what they want about the civic being rice or whatever but it was a great starter car that really allowed me to learn alot about doing my own wrenching, oh and spraying.

I think for a starting point, the civic is not rice. We all remember our first "tuner" cars during the 90's.
What vehicle are you saying is all cosmetic? Becasue the civic had a complete motor swap with some head work and bolt ons, as well as a complete suspension and a disc brake conversion on the rear. And the camaro had I/H/E as well as an intake manifold and some suspension work. So I dont know what vehicle your saying is all cosmetic and no performance. But please do tell.

Yeah those ugly *** taillights were on the car for a total of maybe 72 hours, those pictures were taken literally within hours of having it home. those were just two vehicles that I worked on. I have also built a 98 EK civic hatch which started out as a wrecked vehicle. Then I also did a 79 camaro with a complete 4th gen interior and drivetrain swap. So I have plenty of automotive past. I figure the 350z will be a great gift to myself for starting my career and finally having a very decent job.
