Default Just picked up my Zed

Hi guys,

Thought i'd introduce myself as i've just bought my first 350z (2008 HR). I remember seeing this car for the first time back when I was in school at the 02-03 Australian Motor Show. I'll be honest I wasn't the biggest fan of it (liked the rx8 more) but over time it started to grow on me (especially once I saw them modded). So once I sold my last car my choices were pretty limited as I wanted something good looking but still comfortable. After driving the 350 a few times I knew it was the one I wanted.

Anyway, so far in the last 10 hours of ownership I am completely stoked with the car...haven't had a chance to go for a good run yet as it's been raining all day and im not game enough to let rip in a rwd car yet (all my past cars have been awd).

Don't have too many plans for the car, im trying to restrict my spending on this car and use it more as a daily cruiser. First thing is to get rid of that antenna on the back for something a little more visually appealing! Then either an exhaust for a bit of a better note or some wheels.

Quick phone pict:

And my previous cars:
Evo VIII

Audi A4 1.8T Quattro - don't have any good photos of this one

Lookin forward to learn more about the 350 and meeting some new people. Cheers!

Good luck holding true to that. Your free will has been taken from you. I suggest ONLY getting the antenna. That's the only non gateway mod. It doesn't inspire anything and it compliments itself well.

I had an RX8, still love the way they look, and they are beasts in the turns, but the chub I get from unexpected expected power is far greater than hard turning. You made a wise choice with the HR. Learn the power(in DRY conditions as you mentioned) then see where that leaves you in terms of mods.

and by the way... welcome to the board!!

The Evo's are an amazing car. Going through twisties you will never have a bigger smile on your face than in that car. It does things you just can't comprehend...definately plan to own another one as a play thing at some stage. There seems to be quite a few people that go Evo->350z and vice versa....

Hahaha I actually managed to hold true to the no modding thing on my Evo...half way through I decided to stop because it was quick enough for daily use. I know ill spend more than i intend though on the 350 but hopefully not too much more.

I like the idea of the rx8 but just wished it had an engine with more torque. I liked the drive but you could definately tell it could handle a fair bit more power under the hood.

Thanks mate! The 99b idea actually came from Tokyo Drift. The APR Evo in it ran them - I had no idea but the sales guy showed me a picture when we were trying to decide and liked it quite a lot. Nice looking rim for not a lot of money!

Anyway got my first decent drive in last night, mainly freeway driving. I'm pretty impressed with how much of a cruiser it turns in to on a long piece of road. Very smooth and pretty relaxing.

Thanks again for the welcome.

Yes I can definitely see that. IMO, the evo has outstanding technology and can do amazing things, while being flat out fast as well. The Z is very stylish and turns heads, while being pretty quick too. Both are awesome cars, so I dont blame anyone for owning each of them at some time. Ill probably go with an evo X when I get around to it..at least another year or 2

I know what you mean. I bought my 8 when I was 19, fresh off an 8 month deployment. Young stupid me let my step dad talk me into the tiptronic shiftable automatic. I thought that was the best idea ever. But I didn't do research to find out it was 4 port instead of 6 port. So the speed would never be there.

After a year I was jonesin for my 1st manual trans car. Waited TWO more years and bought the Z. Never looked back.

Hindsight tho, if I would have gotten the 6spd 06 RX8, I'd probably be F/I in it.

and STILL not have the power of my HR!

Hahaha, yeh the 4-speed would have been pretty average - wonder why it every even came out with it.

Tonight is gonna be the first practicality test for the zed. I have to go pick up a big wall hanging for my place....something tells me its not going to fit
