New ZR owner in North Carolina
Just bought a 2004.5 Z Roadster for pretty cheap. It had/has a few small issues (mostly cosmetic) that I need to deal with, but nothing major.
I found this forum while searching for how to adjust the convertible top so that it would seal, and found the answer here, and just wanted to register and say Thanks.
I've been into cars for my entire life, and have owned mostly drag cars, mostly Mustangs for my years. I decided to try something new and buy a car and try to go do some autocross events with some buddies around here. I still have my 11 second Mustang Bullitt (hence the username) to go in straight lines, but wanted something to take turns and to just have fun with driving everyday.
Looking forward to reading and getting some good advice for my new venture into Autocross. It seems like a lot of guys around here race Autocross, so I guess I bought the right car and came to the right place for advice. Fair warning, I tend to overkill things, and while I know that the driver is 90% of the race, I can't seem to ever pass up nice suspension parts, no matter what the purpose.

Welcome to the forum! There are some very knowledgable people here that can help you with any facet of your Z, or really any car. Check out the suspension tech section to start.
Always post pics! New suspension? Post pics. New wheels? Post pics. Almost anything you do to your car there's a place for you to post them pics.
Have fun with your new car.

Welcome. I love my ZR and I'm starting to get active tracking my car in SC, NC, GA, TN, VA areas. Depending on where you go and what their insurance requires, some are going to require you to have a rollbar welded in because the stock hoops are not rated for rollover protection. Having said that, though - there are places that aren't going to require it, but you'll want to contact them in advance and get it on paper before you drive all the way out to the event and find a different guy with a different opinion running tech inspections.
How far are you willing to drive for an event?
Also, are you more interested in low speed events like autox or higher speed events like road course stuff at Road Atlanta, VIR, Charlotte Motor Speedway, etc?
I'd love to have another ZR guy to meet up with at events...

I'm more looking for just autocross. I know most of the events around here are in Sanford, NC, but I don't mind driving. I'm only 30 miles from the NC/SC border, so SC events are a great possibility. There seems to be considerable expense associated with open tracking a convertible, and with another race car to fund, I'm going to have to stick with just semi-local autocross for now.
