Default How to use heater in the winter

I have an 03 6MT. When it's cold, I set the temperature to whatever I want on the dial but I'm not sure what I should do to turn the system on. Whenever I turn the fan dial to "auto", the A/C light also comes on. Does that mean that it's also blowing cold air?

Do I need to turn it to "auto" and remember to turn the A/C light off every time?

thanks

only time AC goes on automatically is when you have it on defrost for the front window...

press that ****/button once and it will turn the a/c off. leave on auto. If you take it off auto, and put it back on - the a/c will again come on automatically.

Also note that when the heater is on the AC removes humidity. So, if you tend to fog your windows up, like I do, then it will help keep things clear.

so whenever the a/c light is on, the a/c part of the system *is* working, and I should always push that button whenever its really cold outside and I just want heat right?

(that design is really dumb, because in my mom's maxima, there's only 1 auto button, and you just push that everytime and nothing else)

When the a/c light is on the a/c is working. That said, like thekinn said, if you leave everything in auto and turn it off it will stay off. It's when you turn auto off and back on that it resets.

+1

Yes, the AC is 'on', but that isn't necessarily bad. The AC removes the humidity before the air reaches the heater core. I always run the AC because the weather is so wet here in the NW and I want the air in the car to remain as dry as possible.

Heat is set by selecting the temp on the other dial, you can have it set at 90 with the AC running, all the AC does is condition the air. I live in a dry climate, so i usually turn the AC off when i run the heat, when i am in a wet climate i leave it on to keep my windows clear.

Correct. The 350Z has a auto-ON air conditioning feature. The purpose is to lower the humidity inside the car. This will clear the windows of condensation.

That. A/C doesn't mean cold air only.
