Default Getting my Z on Sat 12/17

Hey guys! So I have been wanting a z since 2003 and my wife has finally allowed me to pull the trigger and the best news of all is that it can be a MT. I am looking at a 2005 Daytona blue z on Sat. I was wondering if I could get some advice on what to look for? The car has 60k miles which isn't horrible for the year. I will post some of the dealer pictures... one picture i was worried about was the engine. the top is bare metal?? Thanks in advance!

This appears to be a Touring with leather.
Wheels are aftermarket
Engine is missing a front cover.
Do not see a cover on the battery.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like minor things to me. Is there anything I should pay special attention to when test driving?

Yes. 2005 is known to have major transmission problems.

Listen for a timing chain rattle at cold startup. Also, is that transmission graph suggestive of auto or mt or both?

Also see if you can get it on a lift. With the front wheels
Free see if there is play in the front end. If there is a lot
Of movement I'd pass unless you wanna do a front end
Refresh ...

if you have the bose 6 disc player make sure each slot works. it's notorious for malfunctioning easily which forces many owners to go aftermarket.

So I pulled the trigger and purchased the DB Z. Car seems to run great and tranny is solid. I noticed a burning smell after getting it home and was scared that it was the clutch. The clutch engages perfect and there's no slipping. I smelled the brakes after driving it around in town today and believe that its my driver side front brake. Wonder if they put a new pad on that one? Anyway I need to stop worrying about stuff and just enjoy the car. If anyone has some input on this burning smell id be most grateful.

Welcome, and don't worry about it, it's only a cover. Previous owner maybe scratched it or cracked it, and dumped it. Frost leather is a winner! But don't wear dark jeans on it too often, or it'll end up not white.

It's like anything, when you are immersed in the community, you'll always here more about your marque, no different with any other type of car.

Maybe you've got a grumpy brake calliper, hopefully not seizing though. You should be able to feel it driving or alternatively when you get out of the car after a drive, does one rotor/calliper feel a lot warmer the opposite side? (BTW, don't put your hands right on it, or you could end up with a burn). If it does, then go get it checked out if you're not fixing it yourself.
