making dreams come true
Hey guys I'm obviously new to this forum, and forums in general. I've been a fan of 350z's since I was in 3rd grade, and now as a Senior in High School my dream has come true. I've been saving up for a 240sx since I was about 15 years old, but changed my mind drasticly due to getting a Honda Cbr 600rr. I spent countless hours between the ages of 12-16 on the computer looking up vidoes, blogs, and this forum thinking wow I love this car. I busted my *** saving up money, and joined the ARMY Reserve my Junior year (last year) with hopes of doing ROTC.
I came back in September from Boot Camp at Fort Benning, Georgia with about $4,000 and had some more funds in my savings. My parents we're eager to help me get a car because I started getting a 3.0+ GPA and was on the right track to go to College and doing something with my life. I spent 2-3 months after I got back looking at Z's, getting disappointed every time. I wanted a 6 speed Z that was affordable with low miles and well taken care of. I found mine 15 mins from my house for $10,500, 2004 with 82k miles. I actually ended up buying it the next day for $8000 cash and don't regret it one bit.
I love cars and Z's in general, I've never been happier until I actually got to drive my car home. Hearing that VQ engine, and thinking back to the old days when I would day dream almost made me cry (no homo). I've gone to many Nissan meets in the past, but it wasn't the same experience because I couldn't show for anything because I didn't have a car or a Nissan in general. Recently I've encountered many Z's on the road, and exchanged deuces and quick words; and I started thinking why not join a forum so they can give me more knowledge and give me some tips on building my Z. I actually have a $12,000 bonus coming in September, after my AIT this summer and I hope to make some right choices in parts. I've NEVER owned a car, so I couldn't get any better advice then you guys here; that's why I decided to join this forum!

Tom, Tom, Tom here you are a nice young man with a bright future. For god’s sake get out of this forum right now while you can. This is a den of depravity and debauchery; don’t let any of it rub off on you. Run for it, right now!
If you want to risk it, then welcome, just remember you were warned.

Congrats! That's a great deal for $8k!!
As much as I'd like to sell you $12k in parts (We're a vendor, after all...) I agree that you should save most of that cash. I'd do a cat back and wheels if it were my Z. Leave the rest alone for now.
And yes, Jennifer is right. This is certainly a den of debauchery.

Yeah you can join early through a program called split option, you basically go to boot camp you're Junior summer, and you're AIT/ job training the summer after you graduate. I joined at 17 with parental consent.
