Default *PICS* got my new 350z yesterday....any advice tips?

yes this is kind of a long read, but you'd be doing me a huge favor if you know about cars, as i know nothing about cars and want to do what i can to make this car run strong till the end.

i've been looking for a car for a while. was open to anything that i could get a good deal on. this is a 2005 350z with 74,xxx miles, 5AT, 1 owner (older female), and in 9/10 condition. got it for $13k (no payments i've been saving for a long time...helps when you're living at home) which is nearly $2k under blue book...the interior is black on black which is what i wanted. i almost bought a 2006 g35 couple with 88k miles that had ugly tan interior and not in nearly as good of condition for $13,200....i chose this due to it being in excellent condition, interior i wanted, less miles, and the fact that i'm buying a higher mileage car that repairs would be cheaper on a nissan. i had a 2003 g35 sedan and a lot of stuff was expensive (and that was with our dealer friend getting stuff at his cost).

anyways what should i get done? obviously start with an oil change? but what kind of oil? my dad has a 2006 g35 himself and he doesn't use the 91 premium, is he doing much harm? (if so i'll let him know) should i always use 91 gasoline?

those are stock 17's

i have 18's i can switch them out for that i had on my 2003 g35 (will they bolt on okay?).....should i keep them that color or get them painted? i don't really wanna buy new rims (need to keep some money in savings for emergencies or whatnot)

any input would be appreciated

these are the the g35 oem 18's i'd put on..picture is a bit big so i'll just post the link

http://i42.tinypic.com/w97413.jpg

to compare here is a pic that is the same color as my car to better analyze what color wheels

http://www.modifiedplanet.com/wp-con...gts-wheels.jpg

also i just got this installed for $510

i didn't get speakers yet i wanted to see how much the SQ improved after just getting a head unit...ended up making quite a big difference. came with bose speakers, which i know isn't anything special, but for now they will do. (suggestions on some decently priced speakers that would be better than the bose stock?)

also i had this in my old car

Kicker CVR12 COMP 1600W 12-Inch Subwoofers with Sub Box (Pair) (400 watts RMS each) an alpine type r is 500 watts rms if you want to compare it to something

i was thinking about putting just one of those in my car since it's a hatchback and a smaller car, i figured one would suffice. i was gonna pick up a box like this online if i could find one cheap, would that work? does it make a difference if it's ported?

any advice on anything about the car i will greatly appreciate. i don't know much about cars. it's an automatic, i'm not into racing so not much interest in engine mods. except maybe something that will increase gas mileage like an intake...exhaust maybe in the future when i have some extra saved up.

edit: also i wanted to make the nissan logos like a black or a matte black along with debadging...is that something i can do myself?

5w30 synthetic ONLY! 91 premium gas ONLY! The g35 sedan has the same motor, if you thought it was expensive then maybe you should have taken this into consideration. Keep the stock wheels on until you save for some actual aftermarket wheels. Looks like you are on the right track for audio.

yeah but what i meant was infiniti car repairs would be more than a nissan repair? no? in general.

and i really want 18's because i'm not sure when i'll be able to get new wheels =/

G35 and 350Z are the same car, same prices, same problems. 91 octane is prefurred, but 87 works fine, you will just lose some power. The wheels, guess what , same car, same fitment, they even come stock with the same size tires.

G35 sedan is slightly different, not much, but the parts are still interchangable.

i had a sedan maybe that's why they weren't as interchangeable. do i need to do transmission fluid and spark plugs?

so i can use 87? i wouldn't be hurting my car at all?

Sedan run different wheels with a non stagger in tire height with different offsets for the narrow body.

87 will only hurt gas milage, and hp. The stock ECU will not have problems, if you car was tuned, that is where you will run into problems.

my sedan came with 17s...later i found some 18's off craigslist and bought them. the tires were staggered but all the wheels were the same measurements. i believe they came off a coupe. i had changed the tires to be all the same so i could rotate more easily. not before i sell my old car i'd like to take those 18" oem and put them on my Z

If you are even considering 87 then you may have bought the wrong car.

First of all, congrats on your car!
It looks like a silverstone(color).
I cannot tell the model.With a 5AT,could be a Touring.
I can tell that you are not into performance/mechanical
if the first thing you do is work on the sound system.
Whatever...
Use 91 octane premium.More than likely the car was run on
this. The last thing you want is problems. It will run better.Get
better mpg.The correct oil is 5W30.You could save a bit here by using a good conventional or a semi-synthetic.I've used a semi since my car was new.
runs great, uses no oil.You are probably not a hard driver-I'm guess.
Now into cosmetics as it appears interest you.
Don't fool around with buying the G wheels&tires.Wait until you have the $ to buy
some good aftermarket.IMO,19'S look best. You may want to consider painting your OEM wheels or "tinting" them.Duplicolor has a SHADOWbkit that will change them to more of a hyper black. You can black out the emblems. To do this right, they need to be removed and put back on.There are several aftermarket emblems available. If you wish to debage, keep in mind that both front&rear emblems either have holes and/or indentions that will need filling, meaning a repaint of the body part.Any mods are depending on your ability to handle the job.Keep in mind what you are doing. You are changing a correct stock Z to one with custom touches. You may like it,but may lower the value. With the headunit install, you have already changed the OEM aestetics.
The speaker box under the rear strut box will be more of the same.
Watch out....but,just my opinion.
An intake -CAI may actually lower your mpg.Same goes for the exhaust system.
These are more of "performance mods" rather than moves to improve your gas mileage.

Suggest you enjoy your Z for awhile.Drive that baby...
Thats what its for!

Gas ain't that expensive. You not paying prices ppl pay in other countries around the world, which is +/- $9 USD per gallon. Stop being cheap on gas.

A stock VQ will ping on 87. If you think that's just fine then go for it.

Why get an auto? Just get some stock 18's or some better aftermarket rims and you're good to go, looks good.

this is the thread of a very very young person.. i dare say a child.....
..expecting him to not ruin this car is in fact fully irrational.
The only way around that is if he came from a car family.. and dad uses crap gas.. can or cant isnt the question.. I cant believe we ( adult men) are actually having the discussion about 91 gas..OP buy an RSX man. You scare me. haha.
(btw.. i smell DUGAN all over this)

wheres Advan at on this one... hmm...
