From 4x4 Jeeps to a Z - Let the Fun Begin!
First I've got to apologize for no pictures, I understand it ruins the fun of the post. I'll put some up tomorrow when I bring her home
The past 4 years or so I have been into building my 97 Jeep Wrangler, spending nearly every summer night out in the garage with my dad (worked internships at home the past few summers). Jeeps are a whole different ballgame, my first one we bought for 800 bucks, so imagine the work we had to do on that just to get it going. None the less, learned so much and it ignited the mechanic in my blood from my dad. Currently have a 97 Wrangler Sport locked and lifted, but as I just graduated college and start my full time job soon I needed a car. Driving that Jeep on Atlanta's highways is just pure insanity, I'm getting too old to think its fun driving a boat on the highway
Now onto the 350Z I just bought, its a 2003 Touring 6MT with 74,000 on it. Bose stereo, Burnt Orange leather seats, 'everything' but the Nav. It comes from VA and has a clean carfax. I purchased it for 10,500, and got the [small local] dealer to replace the missing Tire Pressure sensors, brake job, and new tires all around for no extra. From the research I've done it seemed like a very reasonable price (correct me if I'm wrong), and I debated a long time whether to pay more and get something with a lot less miles. In the end, despite my great first real job I have a lot of student loans and things I need to start paying now and wanted to get a feel for bills, salary, etc. before I really spent big $$ on a newer car. I hope that any problems that will occur as my miles get higher will be smaller things that I can do myself like bearings, ball-joints, the usual suspects.
Anyway I have been creeping for a few days trying to learn all that I can about my new baby, and look forward to learning this whole new game that Z's bring to me. I remember how clueless I used to be about my wranglers, so I know I've got plenty to learn about my new Z. Also really pumped that Z's have a big community like this, as I come from jeepforum.com and I can't tell you how many times my jeep has been half apart and the people on there have helped me out. Like I said I'm down in Atlanta so hopefully I'll meet up with some of you guys in the future. I'll grab pictures tomorrow!
