Default '04 Z New Owner 2 Week Review

So i bought my Z exactly 2 weeks ago and believe it or not i have put about 1500 miles on it and have of them with spirited driving, so i think i have the right to speask my mind about the car lol. this car has a taken a lot of firsts off of my list: first JDM, first 6spd, first RWD, first 2 seater, and the list can go on but it gets too petty and insignificant..so those are the mains ones. for my first JDM overall, its giving JDM and nissan two thumbs up from me. great car overall. love love love having a 6spd and the ratios are what i like and makes for a lot of shift action before 100mph(gotta love those fast and furious power shifts lol). for a two seater its huge, weirdly practical, and very comfortable. for long drives the seat could definitely use a more bucket feel to them but its not bad. for being my first RWD (owned both awd and fwd) this car has taught me alot. RWD is a different animal and requires alot more finesse and experience than fwd and awd. RWD is truely a drivers drivetrain!lol going from a smooth handling big turbo audi a4 on coilovers to a stock z is a lil bit tough...compared to the audi the z is very fidgity in a turn over 50mph.. on the turn it its very easy to induce udnersteer because of the z's brute-like feel. coming out of the turn is very nice in the see...if you have grip lol. the z is not even close to as forgiving as my last cars. a couple of times it has even gotten the best of me..and i am no slouch when it comes to driving. i can recall at least two times where i got nasty understeer coming into a turn and was forced to break or eat a curb potentially(when more experience comes i expect to counter this situation with a clutch kit and some counter steer )..upon heavy breaking, the already front bias goes even more towards the front and the rear wheels lose grip and just like that im fighting to stop the car from going sideways! overall... for regular driving the z feels great around town...on the highway about 80, it starts to get a little bit of a "hop" feeling..but ive had it up to 145mph and the hop doesn't pose an issue...on the inside i love it, i feel like im in a shell floating around traffic..sound system..BLOWS but ah well. overall the Z is a great car..but for the inexperienced RWD driver, it can be a challenge until brought to the track and tussled with...and for the inexperienced driver..is a bad idea unless they have good selfcontrol!

now here are a few pics: follow me on IG for cool Z pics daily!

heard that headers give very miniscule power gains unless tuned...but even then the gains arent huge..i want it for the sound more than anything

Headers for sound?
Save your money.Have you priced the labor on doing headers(unless you
plan to tackle this yourself)? You may think twice. If sound is your objective,
A CAI,spacer(IMO,save some money and just get a simple 5/16" spacer.
Z1 Motorsports got e'm for less than half you gonna pay for the Motordyne
thermal.You won't notice the difference),catback and HFC'S,you'll
will note a very throaty exhaust.Tune will put it all togeter.

Love the first pic(background/sky)...gonna rain.
CANNOT WAIT for week three...
Got a hunch you text alot. One of those guys thats
constantly tapping the keys letting everyone know
what you are doing each minute of the day.
But,they really don't care.
I'd appreciate that you don't walk into me
when you are texting.

im a tech..been that way for years...headers on a z doesnt scare me..go try and do turbos on an s4 with the motor still in the car...thats scary for the first 2 times lol. and your saying this Z1 spacer is 100 bucks? because im getting mine at a price of 200 for spacer, bolts, and thermo gasket

one of a couple places(done it a couple times) friend of mine owns a small charter company with a nice landing strip...also i live in a community thats still being built around, there is a freshly paved street that has nothing but open feilds on either side waiting to be torn up and built on..goes for about 12-15 miles...never went further then that...they dont even have intersections on it yet lol. i know it may seem otherwise..but if you guys really think im out terrorizing the streets in my z, your mistaken. im sure im not the only one out of ppl who post on this thread to have driven their car a little wreckless on the street. if you guys think im gonna go toying around in my z on "frosty roads"(says dugan) your crazy..as s matter of fact..soon this car will be slammed and on nice wheels..so wreckless driving really wont be an option..ive seen what happens when ppl race around on stretched tires and do not want to experience that. i appreciate the welcomes, and the comments make me laugh..there's a meet in south fl next weekend..hope to see some of you there
