Default 2004 350Z - 52,000 miles - New Owner

Hi everyone,

I have been reading this forum a while. I have always owned Muscle Cars, specifically some supercharged mustangs. I currently am living in Central America for a little while though and so I needed to acquire a new vehicle.

I decided to go with a 350z after a lot of debating. The motor, superior 6 speed transmission and some other factors convinced me.

Anyway long story short, guy really wanted to sell it since his son moved away and it was his, has 52k miles, color black, interior in decent shape, exterior perfect. Paid: $7,600 cash.

I plan to re-do the interior. Repaint exterior. Interior pieces seem expensive and hard to find for the '04 so I am going to have them sanded down and painted professionally.

Anyway, Hi everyone! Glad to be here!

Hi there,

No Salvage. Here in Central America, more specifically, El Salvador the 350z went extinct. It's a clean title, I carefaxed it, original point of sale California, no salvage.

What happened here (I noticed another member who came to SV mentioned he didnt see any Z's) is this:

In SV minimum wage is like 250 USD a month. Currency is USD. Cost of Living is high. Gas is almost 5 USD a gallon. So tons of young kids (younger than me) got 350z's and then could not afford to maintain them, the gas, maint. etc. So they sold them. Which point they went outside of the country to buyers in Guatemala, etc. where there is more money.

As a result there are few to no 350's here. Another big factor here is family. In SV people are 1000% more inclined to their family than in Northern American culture. It is rare to impossible for people to go out alone or with just one other person and the 350z has no rear seat. There are really no other 2 seats even sold new here for the same reason.

So I got a good deal. Meets my needs!

Glad to have one and glad to be here!!!!

Interior Pic:

The interior does need some work. Minor details but they bother me, overall the top half and guage cluster in perfect shape. The audio system is in ruins, they attempted to redo it and did worse, so I need to fix that, right now now sub - all else fine.

Coin box is busted.

Thank you Angelo.

Agreed, it seems like with a little logic. Here there are not many but if I use ebay in the states I can find just about any part, and it's cheap to ship here.... I dunno, pretty excited!

For genuine OEM parts, check Concept Z, and Z1Motors, and Courtesy Nissan . I've dealt with all of them on numerous occasions (even with 300ZX parts) and I haven't had any problems.

Those door panels seem rough. But what a good deal overall!

Great base to be tidied up. Even once it's had it's headlights cleaned it will look better.

Exactly. Getting the whole '06+ front end would look killer. Just don't get the '07+ hood unless the hood came with an HR motor.

Thank you angelo, concept z is a great source.

Also yes, good base. The door panels have got to go, the red is not to my liking but its red leather (artifical) wrapped. It actually looks good in person but just not my style.

In terms of the front, I agree about the 06 but I kinda want something more unique. I am not a fan of body kits but Duraflex ones are nice and they look original. I found one I actually really like:

I am thinking about putting that on. I want to do an exhaust too, but Borla or something similar, don't want to rice out. :-)

Umm as in you think it's ugly?

What do you all generally like in terms of body kits for the 350z?

Stop wasting money on a body kit. That car needs more maintenance and TLC than anything. Those door panels are nasty looking red and need to go back to stock. The interior is beat up and you are going to spend a ton of time looking at the interior versus exterior. You are going to be interacting with the interior and than after that put your money into the engine to bring some fresh life into it with spark plugs, belts, air filter, plenum spacer, brake fluid, coolant, tranny fluid, diff fluid, brake pads, tires and all the worn out bushings. If you still have money to spend then get some swaybars, HFC or test pipes, 2006 headlights and tail lights, coil overs, AUDIO SYSTEM and then finally if you still need more than look into a low key classy body kit. WTF is that monstrosity you linked too.

Faiz thanks for the opinion. totally cool.

To be honest my plan was similar:

1. Refresh motor (it's already in the shop, before buying the car I budgetd for this)

2. Audio System - Already purchased new mids, subs, amps, wiring yesterday, just need a 12 pack and a day off. Headunit on the way.

3. Suspension upgrades - hope to do these.

4. Interior - I mentioned i planned to eliminate the red door panels etc. I am picky about details and I agree. The interior is gross right now. From the shifter area back it's destroyed. Doors too. So I plan to have a local shop restore it, the guy asked me to bring it in next tuesday so I plan to do that.

5. Body Kit - this is my last goal. I want it to look different. I liked the one I found but I guess it's just me. If you have any suggestions on a low key one I'd be open to hear them.

Thank you

Personally the suspension would be my number two, audio doesn't stop and keep the car firmly planned to the road.
