Default Help & opinions on engine rebuild

Hey guys I'm new to the forum thing, and I'm prolly posting this in the wrong place... but I just quit playing drums professionally to get a solid job and get my dream car project started! Now I'm debating what would be the best route to take? To buy an older 350z with higher miles and purchase a stage 2 rebuilt motor or to buy a newer Z with the HR engine and just spend more money? I will be eventually throwing a twin turbo setup on the car but want a solid platform to work with... Maybe build the car up to or around 600 whp. I just want the setup to be as reliable as possible in case my daily driven '98 bmw takes a dump on me..

Any help or opinions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading!!

I'd say go with the hr and you'll definitely be happy you did. More power, looks better, sweet looking twin intakes.. If you are anything like me, you'll buy a de and spend the rest of your life wanting a hr lol.

If you want reliable shy away from twin turbos…especially if this is your daily driver…

600whp will cost you $15k to $20k…plus the cost of the car … and that if everything goes right…I would find a good Z and go from there - if it's a DE then great, if it's an HR great…both engines can be built to get your power but you shouldnt do this build on a daily-driven car…go buy a decent truck that'll get you through winters and the majority of your driving…then you have your z you can build up and play with...

Thanks guys! The Z wouldn't be a daily driven car but I have a '98 bmw and my dad has a jeep wrangler for when the going gets tough.. Haha I may lower the horsepower goal just to make the car more reliable or engine last longer. So I'll prolly run it at low boost.

So another question with the high Rev motor what are the differences from the DE block?

400whp is reliable and you can do it on an OEM block…google the difference between the two...

Thanks! Sorry for all the questions but upon going turbo if I would go any more than 400hp with the turbo setup would be the necessary internal upgrades? Sorry not finding a whole lot of the "clear cut" must haves for a higher hp turbo setup
