Default New owner and new member

Hey guys I recently purchased a Red MT 2003 350z in late October and I am really new to MT cars so I haven't really been driving it around. In the time that I do drive it around I hardly stall or miss shifts, but when I try speeding on the highway my Z won't let me pass 78mph. I follow the Rev light and I'm not sure if I'm suppose to or not but I do anyways and by the time I hit 78 I'm already in 6th gear. My gear limits are 15, 25, 35, 45, 55-60, 65-75. ( when I hit those speeds the rev light flashes ) i have other questions too but this is the one that is irritating me the most. I'm open to all suggestions and I'm just here to learn, I thank all members who are willing to help me.

change the rpm where the light starts flashing in the dash... the top silver button on the right side of the tachometer this will change the display on one of the pods above the radio... when you get to the rpm one, press the bottom silver button to change it

you will notice that it will start flashing slow and then faster the closer the number you have it set to

Yeah I think my redline is at 6800 so I'm guessing I should set my rpm to about 6200?

The light is just to help remind you to shift or to shift
At precisely the right time. You don't need it flashing to shift.

That is all covered in your owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can download it for free here: https://www.courtesyparts.com/owners-manuals.php

Yeah I know I don't need it to shift but my problem was that I shifted at the times that I should have and I was in 6th gear, going 78mph, and the light was flashing so I figured that it was best for me to just put it into neutral instead of ignoring the rev-light and continue on accelerating.

Change it to the ambient temp outside or the blank tire info which i guarantee is there because any sensor is gone. To set your mind at ease set it to how many miles of fuel you have left so you know when to pull into a gas station.

criminy.
