[New] 350z Anniversary Questions
So I am the new owner of a Nissan 350z Anniversary Edition in Ultra Yellow, or so I think. So here's the deal, it was advertised as an anniversary edition, I've seen the original bill of sale that says it is one, and when my insurance agent (my uncle) looked up the VIN it came up as a 35th. My problem came when I realized that it has none of the features that came "standard" with the anniversary edition. No Brembo brakes, stock non-Bose audio, no seat heaters, no 18" Rims (stock 17's), and now I'm wondering if it even has the tuned engine or not. I got a good deal on it, $7900 with 120k, 6 speed, clean title, and according to my mechanic, in great condition (minus a little rust starting to show through on the edge of the wheel well). The other thing I noted is that it has two-tone black and yellow leather interior where the enthusiast edition had cloth. I love the car regardless but I just don't want to go off telling everyone that this is a 35th Anniversary car if it's not somehow. Not sure what to think, just want some input.
Robin, look at the tachometer, the 6-speed 05 Anniversary models (and the Track models) came with the rev-up engine, which has a 7000 rpm redline. All the other 05 models have the VQDE engines with a 6500 rpm redline on the tach.
The VIN will tell you absolutely nothing about the trim level of any Z, any year. I'd almost bet, from your description, it's not a 35th, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it just as much. Post some pics.
Welcome to the forum and congratz on the purchase or your 350Z. Does it have a GT4 plaque between the sub enclosure and the rear glove box? All GT4's had this plaque and as Jennifer says, check the redline, this should further help you in finding out just what you've bought. As dcains mentions, post some pics of exterior and especially interior, this will help ascertain just what it is you've bought. A lot of GT4 owners tend to keep the mileage low in their cars, primarily because its a limited edition.
Sorry about the delay, I tried posting yesterday and something went wrong and it never got posted. It looks like I have an enthusiast model. It redlines at 6600. I'm totally ok with that, it changes nothing in my mind. I just will stop telling people its a 35th Anniversary.
On another note, I thought id list off all the things I know are wrong with it at this point and get your guy's solutions.
I have the common "Axle clicking" from the drivers rear wheel, which I see there is a lot of material on how that can be mended.
The fuel gauge has issues, when you fill it all the way up the gauge never goes over 3/4 and will sit on empty when the DTE says i still have nearly 100 miles left.
I have a litte rust on the edge of the wheel well, I was thinking of sanding it, going over it with some rust reformer and trying out some paint from these guys http://www.automotivetouchup.com
as for pics, here you go, enjoy

No, I didn't pay more thinking it was a 35th. It would have just been a cherry on top, the $7900 I paid for it was a good deal either way, will post interior later today.
