Default Proud new owner of an 08 350z with 17k miles!

Hello new family!
Just wanted to introduce myself to the site and say I just picked up an 08 350Z Enthusiast with 17k miles on it! Undercarriage looks like its never even seen rain and the only mods it has are Nismo catback and Nismo dual intakes. I absolutely love driving this car.

I come from a few subies, an evo, 5.0 coyote mustang and I just love this car. The natural balance of this car and connected feeling hands down stomps any of my past cars. I can't wait to see what a quality set of coilovers like kwv3's or bilsteins along with some hfc's and an uprev tune will do!

I'm excited to become a part of the Z community and really drive this car the way it was built to be driven! I'll definitely be putting some track days in this summer.

Here's a few pics and maybe I'll let my Heep sneak in haha.

Nice Z...looks like San Marino Blue, but as dspaceman inquired, it could be Black as well!?

I'm amazed at the different hobbies that people have on the side owning a Z. My Z IS my hobby but a lot of people have guns, boats, bikes, and like you OP, an offroad rig. I would LOVE to have something to take in the mud, but after working on the father in law's pick up he uses to hunt, I would have a hard time working on something that has seen and will see mud, dirt, water, weather, etc. as EVERYTHING on that pick up was rusted or mud welded on!

Down the line I'd like to get a small truck and a quad to zip around on, but that's about it.

Anyway, welcome to the forum and from the sounds of it, you know what direction you want to go. I would suggest a set of sway bars if you don't want to drop a grand or more on coilovers just yet. I like them about as much as my coilovers!

Hey guys, thanks, I love it! I should have mentioned the color, it is indeed San Marino Blue. When I first got it, I was wishing it was a tad lighter, but now after washing, waxing it and seeing it in the sun, I love how the pearl pops. Plus the dark color will make me wash and wax it more often haha.

Haha yeah, I hear you with the multiple hobbies thing. I have a couple, but my cars are always my favorite. The jeep is fun but like you say, it takes a beating and is not easy to keep looking nice if you wheel it hard. My jeep needs a little tlc-- rocker panels, some random rust, but it runs good. Im in the process of doing a rear disc conversion at the moment on it as they come with drums in the rear. Ill never get rid of my jeep, plus its my winter transportation as well. I've had quads in the past and I would like another. I think they are about the best bang for the buck fun available.

I like your sway bars idea, especially because I really have no complaints about how the car rides or handles as is. That will save me some cash and still give good results. What swaybars do you run?

Thanks man! Yeah, the car is super clean, undercarriage and all. Not even surface rust. I could tell that somebody took very good care of it. Clean carfax and all matching VIN numbers on all panels, so I couldn't pass it up.
It's a great feeling finding a low mileage car in great shape. I'm sure you can agree!

Sorry about that, read quick and didn't see the other plans part. I do plan on high flow cats, an Osiris tune, sway bars, coilover and wheels eventually. Also a sleek spoiler, nothing big. What do you have done to yours?

Just added a weighted WC Lathe Werks shift ****, which I love because it really smooths out the shift feels (I'm a huge advocate of weighted shift ***** and feel they are a mod that people look past before trying and I can honestly say its one of my number one favorite mods in any car).

My next mod will probably be Hotchkis sway bars from all the praise I see of them.

Gorgeous car, welcome to the forum.

How much did you get it for? What trim level is it?

I have Hotchkis sway bars as mentioned in my signature

Tr00f^^^

I have had 7 total shift ***** for the Z. (I'm picky and love switching it up) here are my reviews that TOTALLY agree with 08350ZED:
-OEM-Good shift-looks bland
-White Nismo "Ball" "Butt Plug/*****-super light, way too small, looked great
-White Ebay Delrin "*****" Looked great imo, great shift due to leverage/length
-Momentum Performance-Looked killer-discontinued-good weight
-Garage Defend Burnt Titanium Ball with 3" extender-looked great, didn't tie into my interior but the shifts were butter
-Tommy Kiara Hebi Bebi-Looks amazing-heavy as fawk, shifts awesome, exclusivity (STILL OWN)
-Flossy Grip Rod Redhead (originally for my Mazda3 Hatch but the Z saw more action) Heavy as hell, great shifts, would buy again
-Ebay red ball **** with white 6 speed pattern and 4" extender. Looks great in my opinion and the shifts are smooth. Unfortunately I haven't gotten to test it out in aggressive driving/downshifting. (current set up)

I would use them all again except the Nismo ball one. It was too light and was the size of a gum ball. Go heavy or go home.

I got it for 18,800. It's an enthusiast trim. I think I overpaid a tad but it was a dealer and they gave me a good trade-in value for my car, gave me a warranty on the 350 and it had the exact mods I wanted to begin with. I know mods don't actually increase value but in this case, if I were going to dump 1500 dollars buying these mods, it increases value for me. Not to mention the low mileage, clean carfax and all matching VIN's on all the panels made it too good for me to pass up. So really, I don't feel I overpaid at all.

Wow! You're not kidding, you love your *****! (no crude sexual joke intended hahah) I'm familiar with a few of those ***** but now I'm going to be forced to look up the rest because I'm curious.

A lot of people seem to like the taller ***** and I guess I've always felt like I was driving a sportier car if I had a lower **** and a shorter throw. However, maybe my curiosity will get the best of me one of these days and I'll try an extension. I can see how the leverage probably makes for a super smooth, easy shift, especially with a weighted **** on top.

Here's a pic of my **** both out of the car and then installed. It's from WC Lathe Werks and comes in at just over a pound I love it.

Oh, and go get in that car and test out that new setup with some aggressive driving!

Haha thanks man, I love my jeep. Always digging at my wallet but I think thats a hobby of all my vehicles lol.

As far as cambering.. I see that's a big trend in the Z's but its just not for me. Not that I hate it because I can pretty much appreciate anything auto related, but I'm big on retaining function, especially on a car like this. That's not to say I don't plan on a nice staggered wheel setup and lowering it, but to a point where it's still competitive on a track.

By the way, does that look like a short shifter to you guys?? I feel like the bottom of the **** (even stock) sits lower than all the pics I've see, but when I installed the **** it looked like a factory shifter in there. So now I'm just confused...
