Got a Z for a dd
Wanted to upgrade my commuter so I picked up an 08 touring 350z with 65k on it, silver and manual trans. Super fun car to drive around on our twisty country roads. Its issues are that the wheels need resurfaced due to curbing and also I found some tiny paint bubbles where rust is starting on the roof. I was going to get the roof re sprayed silver but to save some $ I might just go with a gloss black. Not really what I wanted to do but if it saves me $600 or so then whatever. I bought it in new York which is 7.5 hours from me and I didn't have a trade so I took my truck and trailer out and towed it home.
It's super dirty, haven't had time to clean it yet.

Congrats, I can't see the pics on my computer at work but I'll look later.
I DD mine 100 miles a day, 5 days a week, I wish I had some twisty roads here in Florida to enjoy it on.

Thanks. I have a GTO and was big into drag racing but then started road racing bikes so wanted a car that would go around the bends as well. If the snow gets too deep I will just have the drive the truck. The rust isnt bad on the roof, barely noticable even when trying to look for it but its something that I need to get taken care of. Just not sure I want to go the black roof route.
I was just planning on the very top and skipping the pillars and hatch. I figure it will have to stay parked 2 months or so a year. I want to put all weather tires on the stock wheels so I can go out in the cold and get different wheels for the summer. But when there is snow on the road it will stay at home. We have some fantastic roads in our area i used to ride on the bike and I'm pretty excited to take a day and hit them up in the Z.

And the current bike.

Looks like you have plenty of toys. You might be interested to know the Pontiac GTO was classed in SCCA road racing with the 350Z. It had unbelievable power on the straights, but could not hold a candle to the Z33 under braking and in handling. While the Z regularly walked away from the GTO in T2 racing several years ago, I still remember how that Pontiac sounded when that V8 was fully wound up!

There were a few guys on the GTO boards who were into the scca stuff. I hate to say but I went a little far on my GTO, not a very fun car on the street anymore. The Z is probably the most fun car I have owned. When my GTO had a T56 and just a cam it was a very fun car, GREAT for road trips. But I got wrapped up in drag racing and had to go faster and faster until it was more of a job to drive on the street that it was fun.
@ Jester
Where are you located?! I commend you for dd a Z in Ohio.
I'm up in Cleveland, and mine is only on the roads from April to Oct, my Acura takes the daily duties the rest of the year.
Oh and I have a WS6 track toy!!! But admittedly its nothing compared to your goat ha.

I like the idea of having it as a DD through the winter months, but I know its going to be hard to take it to work when the truck is sitting right there. Will just have to see how it goes.
Spent alot of time doing a paint correction with chemical guys products over the weekend. It is way cleaner now than it was when I got it. I haven't done anything with the wheels yet but loons like the drivers front is almost stained with brake dust.
Can see the wheel here.

Rest of it cleaned up nice, aside from the rusty roof of course.

Made that mistake years ago with one of my 240Zs. By the time it was "done", it was unruly on the street and ended being "classed up" (or better known as "not quite enough to be competitive in C-Production but dammit, son, there's where you're gonna run cuz of them three carbs!" so there wasn't anywhere else to drive it. (Pre-NASA, pre-SCCA ITS class). Sold it, started over. Laff.......
