New owner of 04 Liquid Aluminum!
Hey everyone, just picked up my 04 Liquid Aluminum coupe 6mt (of course!) I've had her for about a month now, but just haven't got around to posting my new owner thread. Guess I was too busy with the car I've had my eye on a 350z for a few years now, and lurked on this forum as a guest for a while. I have read all of the "noob threads", so don't expect any "how can I reach 500whp with 5k" or "how do I open my trunk" threads..
She is 98% stock, with only a silver nismo shift ****, and some drilled and slotted rotors (not sure of the brand). I don't plan on doing much, call me crazy but I kind of like the way Nissan designed it! Only thing I've done so far is some Z1 HP hatch struts, because at some point over the life of the car, the stock ones retired themselves. It just rolled over 100k on the clock, and runs smooth as glass. The previous owner had it since 2008, with 45k miles. He only drove it during the summer, and it shows! Interior is extremely clean, with just some cracking on the driver seat bolster (somewhat unavoidable after 11 years). Exterior is immaculate, few small scratches and dings but very hard to notice even if you are looking for them like I was. Bottom of front bumper has a cracked part and very scraped up, but you can only see if you look right under the front bumper. That's the only thing I was bummed about, but guess I can't complain as it's an 11 year old car, and you don't see many that look this good.
The previous owner actually didn't even know that it was a liquid aluminum, and just thought it was the standard silver (i forget the actual name, I think it's silver alloy or something like that). Only thing it really needed when I bought it was tires, the tired old 3-4 year continentals are really running thin. So I promptly ordered some new Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 from tirerack. They will be going on this Friday. These tires from what I could tell have the best light snow and ice performance for all-seasons, which I might need as this car will be my DD. Southern Illinois winters can get nasty at times, but I can always get a ride to school or work from a buddy if needed. I am a freshman at an area junior college working on my Business admin degree, and work as a line cook at a very upscale local restaurant.
No big plans for the car currently, just new tires and possible some 35% tint down the road. Plastidip = no. Rep. exhausts = no. cheap a$$ wheels = no. Won't be doing much to this car for the foreseeable future except enjoying it.

I am trying to upload a few photos, something isn't working. It says "either the file is too large or something about size constraints". The files are only 1 or 2 mb each and are just what I took with my phone..

Try uploading your pictures to an alternative hosting service such as PhotoBucket -- you should have the option to resize the pictures once they have been uploaded. Pictures straight out of your phone are usually a large width/height.

Enjoy that exclusive paint color. Liquid Aluminum, available only in 04 had a huge extra cost and as such there are very few of them around. In most light conditions it is very subtle, looks just like the millions of other silver/gray cars. But in the right light, the car looks like it's covered in molten metal, quite striking.

What most people don't understand when they purchase a new and fun car is that you should enjoy it first, learn it's handling capability, and "grow" with it.
Congrats.

Congrats on finding a nice Touring model.
I love the Liquid Aluminum, the night I picked my Silverstone up in '04, a guy came in and bought a Liquid Aluminum right before me.
I'm glad to hear you plan on leaving the z alone, Nissan did a great job with these cars.
Enjoy your z, I've been enjoying mine for over 11 years now.
