New Owner/First Post
I purchased my Z back in March and joined this forum shortly afterwards but I've hesitated to post anything because I'm still a noob. I've learned alot from this forum and used it to replace my head unit with an aftermarket Pioneer unit, really aappreciate all the information available here.
I've wanted a fun car for a while now and started looking online over the winter, trying to decide exactly what I wanted. I wanted something fun to drive, inexpensive to maintain, and a drop top. I didn't want to spend a fortune so I was looking at older BMW Z3 and Z4 cars, and was going to look at an older Corvette when I saw a 2004 350Z Roadster on the lot at a dealership. I've wanted a 260Z for a long time but never considered a 350Z. This car had 38,000 miles on it and looked brand new. The only blemish was paint starting to flake off on the front air dam, but otherwise perfect! The plastic interior was even unscratched.
That's when I starting doing my research on here and realized this car would be a lot cheaper to maintain the the BMWs I was looking at, so I bought the 350Z. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! It's not the fastest, it's not the most nimble, but I don't believe there is a better bargain for a sports car out there. I live in PA and the summers here are perfect for a convertible, and I love driving this car.
Things I like - responsive, nimble, reliable, beautiful with the top down, great exhaust tone.
Things I don't like - it's ugly with the top up (I think the coupe looks way better than a roadster with the top up), the visibility is crappy with the top up, thin paint job and cheap plastic interior.
I read the posts here and start thinking about mods but my car fits my requirements so perfectly I've decided to leave it alone, although the thought of buying a track model and taking it to track days has crossed my mind a couple times.
I replaced the head unit because it ate a CD and I wanted an interface to my phone. I'll replace the rest of the sound system (amp, subwoofer and speakers) when something dies, but it's adequate for now.
Thanks to all who post useful information, how-tos, etc.

Good luck with it ! Im contemplating selling mine to get a vert ! My Z is not my daily so the ugly top up wouldn't be an issue.
You kind of contradicted yourself tho saying its "not the most nimble" but that you like that its "nimble" ....
Either way ! Good luck with it !

"not the most nimble" - Let me clarify. It's not a 911 GTR, but it's way more nimble than the chunky family cars and trucks I've been driving. There are a lot of cars out there that outperform the Z, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find better price/performance.
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on buying your Z. I think if you have half of the fun that I've had in mine over the last four years then you'll be grinning from ear to ear for a while yet. In my four years of ownership all its cost me except mods is tires, oil, filters oil & air and an exhaust as the OEM had holes in every section, oh and a battery. Its been totally reliable and i still smile every time i turn the key.
