Default Can not remove license plate screws

Hello all,

I just joined the site and I could use your help. You will soon see I am whatever precedes a total noob because I don't even think I have earned noob status. :-)

Anyways, my name is Nathan and I just picked up a new to me 2003 350Z Touring model. Man, I love this car. Coming from a huge pickup top this thing is beyond night and day difference. I have already run into a few small problems and I could use some advice. I went to put on my new plates and the rear screws, both of them, will not come out of the black fasteners that they screw into. I've tried pulling on the screws while turning them, I've tried holding the back of the fastener while turning the screw. I don't know where to go from here short of cutting the screw off. Any advice?

Sooo they just spin? Or you cant get them to spin?

Welcome to the 350z everything easy becomes a pain in the ***... But you love it anyways...

If its just spinning gotta hold the back with some vise grips...

If its not spinning use an impact it will spin or break off...

Im not going to talk any shitola, ive had to cut them off before.

Thanks for the feedback. The screws just spin. I tried holding the back of the fastener, but it doesn't feel like its moving to me. Some how the nut is stripped and holding the screw in at the same time. What's the easiest way to cut them off?

Try a flathead screwdriver under the head of the bolt and use a little outward pressure as you unscrew the bolt. This usually allows the damaged threads to reengage and begin to unthread.
