Default New Z owner in Chicago!

I just a 2008 350z base mt a couple months ago. It had 112k miles for 5500. I thought it was a decent deal. Good exterior (7.5/10), good Interior (8/10).

The exhaust was bad, replaced with Invidia Gemini Exhaust. Got it for $700 cash with a dent in it (you can see in pictures). It popped out basically now and is hardly noticeable.

Got a ticket for no front plates, got a custom made bracket that goes in the tow hook slot out of some scrap metal around my friend's automotive customs shop.

Clutch went out, so I got a 300lb custom made clutch from quarter masters with a dual mass light flywheel that weighs probably less than 10lb.

Next on my list is a custom made mandrel bent intake, I could not find a good set. I want it positioned like the fujita intake, but without the change in diameter in the pipe that would create buffering.

(Is this the new Nismo Intake that came out in 2007? http://www.intensepower.com/nirducoairin.html) Looks like the mynismo link from the thread from back then doesn't work anymore. (https://my350z.com/forum/new-owners/...he-vq35hr.html)

My wheels are pretty cheap, they came up to be $150/each new. I will need to replace those for sure.

Some of the speakers don't work so I'll need to replace that, but the car did come with a nice double din head unit.

Excited for the summer in this car, my friend's going to take me to Autobahn Country Club to do some track days as soon as the season opens up!

Oh, this is the base and didn't come with some of the creature comforts I want. So I'll get an aftermarket alarm system so I can get a remote to unlocks/locks the doors. I'm doing this all with a key only right now! With that, I'll also get the aftermarket system that has remote start capabilities.

Need new tpms, anyone know any good brands???

I'm also chasing the illusive airbag light issue. Hopefully I won't have to tear apart my steering column.

::EDIT::

Also on the list is a LSD, might take one off a M3, not sure yet.

I'll do some research into these. How long have you had them installed?

All Z's have the remote lock/unlock. Maybe your emote control isn't programmed properly, but you can do that yourself. Google it. Remote start is never a good idea on a manual trans car.

Also, you can't just take an LSD from an M3 and install it in the Z pumpkin. You need one specific to the Z. Look into a Quaife or WaveTrac.

I don't have a remote and when talking to the dealership it doesn't seem like it came with one. (Weird right?) I'll check again with the dealership since it seems like remote luck/unlock was a standard option?

I was going to put in a whole rear end from an M3, not just the LSD into pumpkin. I mean, the LSD I want is the Nismo GT, but I can't afford that yet, so something cheap (but more effective than swapping in a used VSLD) till I'm baller enough for the Nismo GT.

What is bad about a remote start in a manual car? Only thing I can think about is leaving it in gear by accident (which I don't).

Buy a remote on eBay or Amazon, and save a bunch of $.

The BMW rear suspension setup is grossly different from the Z, and I can't see the point to even thinking about such an undertaking, but you'll see if you ever look into the details.

Lots of choices for an LSD, so do your research and make an informed decision.

If the car didn't come with remotes from the factory the ECU wouldn't know what to do, right?

Either way as I said, I'll dig into my ECU and talk to Dearlership again. I didn't do any research on remotes because I went straight to the horses mouth (dealership) for this inquiry when I first got my Z.

Don't worry, I don't think a M3 rear end/diff (or what ever part(s) I decide on using) would magically all bolt up to the 350z but, I hope you're not giving me an uninformed decision about an M3 swap without doing your own research

Welcome.

I have to do something as well, no plate up-front [pushing my luck] and I'm not into drillin' holes.

Mine is sturdy and comes off pretty easily.

You in the market for one? I can see if my buddy is interested in making more.

Programming a new remote is dead simple. As I said, just google it.

I've had BMW's since the mid-'80's (that's 33 years), and have two in the driveway right now. The trailing arm rear suspension isn't something that's going to fit the Z33 chassis. It simply couldn't be more different in the way it attaches to the chassis. And, anyway, what would the point be? Nothing special about it, and it's got a lot more toe and camber change than the Z's thru its range of motion, so I'm not seeing anything better about it.

Welcome bruh... I live in the Chicago suburbs, actually I'm like 30 minutes north of the Autobahn CC. If you ever want to get up and get our cars going lmk. I have a HR enthusiast, which I'm prepping for track duties. Trying to figure out which class to run and what sanctioning body, but leaning towards more to the local tracks, drift events, and autoX/HDPE/PDX/NASA-X events. You should also join Z alliance and iLL society in F/B for local Z enthusiasts.

All trims/model Z33s came with remote lock/alarm systems.

As stated, you just need the key FOB and re-program.

And the ENTIRE first page of googley results are from this site using query:

How much weight are the run-flat tires and bulletproof glass going to add?

Agreeing with dcains.... Not sure what the point of a BMW rear end would be.

Nor the Nismo GT LSD for that matter. You have a base model which comes with the open diff - making that entirely the right pumpkin to drop in a Quaife or Wavetrac and with the simple stub replacement and decent rebuild you're looking at maybe half the cost of the Nismo unit with comparable results.

But izz your money...

I do not know why but my ECU does not have the VATS system in it. Every trim/model is supposed to have it as a standard option but who knows what happened to mine.

I'll get a price estimate eventually. Summer is a still a few months away but a LSD (in what ever form I eventually decide on) will be needed as I plan to basically go to the racetrack every weekend, or at least till I run out of money for more tires.

I have just joined Z Alliance, and I requested to join "Ill Society Car Club." You Hector Miranda?

IAG quoted my 80k for some .8 inch glass. They haven't said anything about weight yet but I'm sure I can make a quick get away with the Supercharger I'll be putting in the Z.

Glad to be here.

FYI, the custom clutch will be able to handle 1000 HP. I hope that might give some indication of my possible plans for this car in the future.
