Got my license bout 6 months ago, I had my restricted since 16 but I never cared enough to get it till recently. I never liked 4 door cars so I asked my dad to get me a sports car as my first car and he got me a 06 350z last week. I was kinda hoping some of you guys could give me pointers on what problems to look out for on the z and what I mods I should get. Also I keep hearing that the z is asshappy, what's that about?

 

Welcome and congrats on getting a Z for your first car. Wish that I was as lucky. The Z33 is a powerful RWD car that can bite an inexperienced operator not used to the driving dynamics. For example, braking into a turn (and shifting weight bias forward), and then hitting the gas too soon can result in snap oversteer and a dugan-like shunt. If none of that makes sense to you, consider going to a performance driving school and continue reading and exploring this site. There's a wealth of information for Z noobs if you take the time to search for it.

 

My advice....tell your dad to buy you a Honda

 

Puts my first car to shame

 

Potential problem areas:


- Possible oil consumption issues.
- Premature window motor failure.


Mods:


- Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh.


Asshappy:


- The rear tires like to break free frequently.

Be safe, everybody I know crashed their first car. Once I was rammed in the rear by a kid who got his license that day, his 16th birthday, about a block from his home.

I am very lucky I couldn't afford a fast car when I was 16, because I would not be writing this, I would be dead.
