New Nismo Z Owner
Right on! Congratulations on the Nismo purchase. I've always thought the 350Z versions are superior to the 370Z versions due to the extra work that was performed on them by Autech. Is yours an '07 or '08?
Exactly my reason for buying a Z33 over a Z34. Having all seams hand welded by Autech was a no brainer lol. Not to mention the 3.5l can always achieve a displacement of 3.8l (Nismo 380RS). My Z is a 2008

All true.... however, don't forget the fact that the Z34 is already stiffer than the Z33 throughout the entire chassis (and body) through the extensive use of composites and aluminum sub-bracing.
Having owned both Z33 and 34 Nismo versions, IMO, the nod for overall "better" goes to the Z34, sorry. Stiffer, more power, and lighter.... how could evolution be wrong?
Don't get me wrong, love both... for differing, nit-picky issues. But boiled down to basics, well....

You can see that my initial criticism (good and bad) of the car (Z33 version) reduced significantly towards the end of the thread due to increased seat time in it. Still think it's one of THE most significant cars I've owned.
Oh, congrats on the purchase!

I have a feeling the Z33 Nismo's going to be more sought after over time since it was only built for 2 years and in very limited numbers. I've driven the Z33 Nismo, but not the Z34 Nismo. I have driven a few Z34s (both auto and standard) and though I was impressed by its better acceleration, I didn't feel as connected to the road... it's kind of hard to describe.
When are you going to get a Chevy Vega, Mic?

Your "disconnect" is noted because it's true; however, consider also, on the Nismo Z34, unlike the "standard" models (and like the Z33 Nismo), it also has additional chassis bracing (front towers, rear underchassis - not the Yamaha dampers of the Z33N but effectively doing the same thing), bigger brakes (same available on Sport Pkg), wider wheels/tires/track and Nismo-specific suspension tuning making for a car worlds different from the standard models.
But again, have to say that I love the Z33 Nismo. Wouldn't have owned it if I didn't. I'd likely still have mine if I didn't want to indulge re-living my youth with the Datsuns and the rocket Vert. Laff....
Note I did NOT say "mid-life crisis".
