My name is Brent and this is my first Z. I am not new to the VQ family as I previously had a 2004 G35 Coupe (wife drove it) and currently have a Q50S (wife also drives it - she gets all the nice things). I picked up the Z from my brother-in-law who bought it in 2007 with 21k miles. The car is a manual with the Enthusiast package and has 183k miles on it today. He used the Z strictly for commuting, which left the car in pretty good shape given the miles. It runs great short of a starting issue - cam sensor bank 1 was replaced in July, but I suspect the shop that installed it did something wrong as it now has a CEL and is hard to start. I'm taking it back to them this week, which is the last time someone else will work on it. The car will be built for canyon carving with possibly some light autocross and track sessions thrown in.
My plans for the car:
-Eibach Prokit with Bilstein dampers and camber kit / arms as needed
-Stillen or Hotchkis sways
-Konig 18x10 wheels
-Ventus V12, 285/35-18 square
-Poly / solid bushings throughout
-Upgraded brakes - haven't decided on either Akebono or Wilwood 6 pot front with stock 06+ or Brembo rear
-New front bumper (came with the car)
-New headlights
-Shave the antennae, Z, and Nissan emblems
-Paint
Save yourself any potential future trouble and get Hitachi (o.e.) cam position sensors from Rock Auto. Replace'em both. Shop probably installed shitty aftermarket units, a well known no-no.
Welcome and congrats! My ZR had Konig 17's when I bought it, no problems with them really but Enkei makes some really nice affordable wheels, went with that upgrade,

It ended up being the crank sensor and it was replaced with OE.

I originally was planning on running Enkei, but I prefer the design and price of the Konigs. They only weigh a couple of pounds more than Enkei, so I figure reduction in performance would be minimal.

What issues did you have with the Ventus?
I finally brought the car home last night. Got it smogged and the title transferred, so it's good to go. The driver's window got stuck down, so I replaced the window motor last night. I'm sure there will be more small issues as I put some miles on it in the coming weeks. Once I put a couple of hundred miles on it, the modding will begin. I don't want to spend a few grand on parts only to have the car take a dump right after.
