Default Hello from Apex Wheels!

Hello everyone! My name is Matt and I’m the JDM Product Expert here at Apex Wheels.

We are excited to begin supporting the Z (& G) chassis as well as the community!

For those whom we have not yet had the pleasure of working with, since 2007, our focus at APEX has been to produce high-performance wheels with extreme durability and unprecedented value for the performance driving community. Combining proven Motorsport design features, vehicle specific optimizations, and advanced Flow Forming Technology, we've created wheels that have taken BMW performance driving enthusiasts by storm. As a grassroots Motorsport oriented company, comprised of a diverse group of auto enthusiasts, we understand that enthusiasts from all corners of the car community seek quality products at an affordable price point, and that these should not be mutually exclusive.

APEX does not view the car community through a traditional lens. Since inception, this company has worked hand in hand with enthusiasts through many channels, but much of what we have accomplished stems from our unique ability to incorporate forum members into product development. Rather than sitting around a conference table internally brainstorming a list of products that we feel are relevant to a specific community, we have made it our mission to enlist enthusiasts in the decision making process. Tell us where the market is currently missing the mark for you, and how we can employ our core competencies to fill the current pitfalls. The action of putting enthusiasts at the forefront of product development ensures that APEX delivers satisfactory products.

We will also be posting technical threads in the wheels and tires section for further discussion!

You can check out our website at apexwheels.com for more information.

I look forward to interacting with you all.

- Matt

sick dude, those are some good looking wheels! Do you have any offerings of a track wheel less than 20 pounds?

hi Matt. I looked at apex's offerings several times over the past year and couldn't find a wheel that fit my cars, or if they did they weren't priced competitively. I got some Konig hypergrams for the 350Z (which are simply awesome) and my Z3 still has OEMs. Apex also failed to compete when I was looking for Cayman wheels so I got Titan 7 T-S5s for it. I looked at your offerings at the time. nothing fit. nothing in a forged wheel for a competitive price. I hope you are here offering competitive pricing and wheels that fit at least the 350Z.

Unfortunately I can't give any specific wheel weights for Z fitments since we haven't actually made the wheels yet. However, I can use some of our existing lineup as an idea of what to expect weight wise.

Our 18x10" ET25 VS-5RS forged wheel for BMW comes in at right around 18.5lbs and our 18x10.5" ET22 comes in right around 19lbs. Our 19x10.5" ET18 comes in at ~20.5lbs, however we're expecting most of the track guys to want 18s. We're open to feedback though as we'd hate to put out stuff that people can't use.

I'm sorry to hear that we didn't have wheels for you at the time, but we may have released some new Cayman wheels since you last checked! As for Nissan Z cars, we are working to produce some chassis specific fitments that we hope the community will appreciate.

As I mentioned before, we really welcome feedback on what owners might want in a wheel from us, so if you have the time/desire you can share your thoughts with us in our survey!

I will be looking soon for some new wheels for my Z. Are you thinking to make 20"?

I know it is not the standard in the community but i prefer to stay with what i have now and my tires are basically new.

Thanks in advance.

That's good to hear! I am eager to see what new wheels you are offering for the z33. those 18-in wheels are just the right weight. I'd like to compare them to the Konigs. which are flow formed, which I take it is in between cast and forged, technically it is a form of forging. it's not just pouring liquid metal into a cast in other words.

I will definitely be buying another set of 18-in wheels for the Z. would love to hear what you have to offer. thanks!

We're open to 20-inch options if there is enough popularity to go that route. From what we've seen though, smaller diameters are much more common.

what time frame are we looking at for a new set of wheels from Apex? And what are your expectations, flow formed or forged? If you are going flow formed, then you need to price them competitively with Konig. looking forward to seeing what you come up with here. please cross post if you've gone over to the wheel section.

We definitely have plans of posting more in the Wheels section once we've had the chance to produce some wheels for the community.

As for expectations, it really could go either way. We have quite a few markets that we produce both forged and flow formed options for and it's likely Z wheels will be similar.
