real newbie question.. just confirming something
okay.. im gonna throw out a real newbie question here cause some of my friends got me confused...
when someone is selling a car and they say $9000 OBO.. that "OBO" part.. "or best offer"... what does it mean?
i always thought of it simply. 9000 or best offer. It means, it's on sale for 9000, but the seller will take best offer.. like the "best" that the buyers can offer right? So if im a buyer, i'll say, "yeah 9k is a little bit too steep. my best offer is 8400" or something like that right?
my friends (or ME) are hopped up on something cause two of them were saying OBO is HIGHER than the listed price. like 9000 obo means, the seller will take everything ABOVE 9k and the best offer. So if people say offer 10,500, 11,000 and 9500, then the seller will take 11,000. But to me, that doesn't make sense cause why in the world would anyone offer HIGHER than the listed price?
juss asking..

I suppose it could go either way but generally it mean best offer under the asking price. That's why some times you see OBO and some times you see FIRM. Obviously if someone said they were FIRM on the price but got a higher offer they wouldn't turn it down. OBO just means the seller is willing go come off the price. So to answer your question, your right. Time to start looking for smarter friends.
