^ agreed.
It also makes a difference if the Elise/Exige had LSD. These cars were designed for the circuit in mind over parking lot cone dodging. The cars are set up with an open diff to optimize turn-in for circuit-type corners. However, that puts them at a disadvantage in parking lot cone dodging, where they tend to spin the inside tire coming out of tight turns.
From 06, Lotus grudgingly offered LSD as an option to appease the cone dodgers, but we have no idea if the cars listed in the results have it installed.

"Do you own a NISMO Z? Have you ever driven one? Have you tested it to its limits against the Lotus yourself? Didn't think so."
Its amazing how defensive people get over a simple car comparison. You act like your better than everyone else because you have a NISMO Z. Its a great car, and I'm not putting it down at all, but you think you are better than the regular Zs? Because you spent $38k rather than $32k? Please. I spent $40k for my ZR but I dont rub it in peoples faces that I have the freedom to put my top down whenever I please.
You have a great car, yes, but you drive a Z, like EVERYONE else here.
Please get off your pedestal because you have no reason to be up there.
/end rant

it's a viable question. if you didn't drive in both then how can you compare? i did respond saying i drove both at 'streets of willow'. but he didn't believe me and said that 'no one would lend me the keys to a 38K car'...like it was a ferrari or something...lol. did i go ***** out on the track..no...that's disrespectful to the owner..but i did manage to drive them relatively quick (7-8/10ths) and got a good feel for them.
of course when i posed the question to him...there was no response.

let me know where and when so i can take vids and pics!!<---cvt, using any excuse to get out to a track day/meet
I raced a Lotus Elise at Memphis motorsports park road course, our times were really close and my NISMO is completely stock, when I buy wheels and tires he will be the one having trouble keeping up.I never said the NISMO was faster but a race between the two comes down to who's the better driver.
having a race setup like this introduces quite a few variables (driver skill and weight). I don't think this can give a definitive answer unless one person drives both cars and do trial runs.

Oh, and after reading the lawsuit outcome of the CGT driver/passenger at Calspeedway, I want to emphasize that this is a friendly comparison, not a race. We're going to compare the handling characteristics of our cars to see the +-. We ARE NOT going to be racing. Last thing I want is a lawsuit resulting from something happening at the track.
