If I remember this video right, I recall the Z not even pushing it and shifting early. The guy wasn't even trying to keep up with those cars. The video was obviously biased towards the Hondas.

The results are in and they are not pretty.
The civic not only took first place, but it out lapped the Nismo's best lap time.
Don't get my wrong, I love my car dearly but what will these Civic's do to my Enthusiast 03 if they can outlap the Nismo? Discuss.
To those who have seen race, maybe you can explain the race in more detial. I might be lost without translation but did these civics have turbo's or were they even heavily modified? From what I saw all of the cars were stock.

From what I've seem on Best Motoring I believe either November or December. There is one race with the Nismo Z getting smoke by the Civic R. To my understanding the JDM Nismo Z is the 380RS which have around 350hp. But getting smoke by a Civic-R (240hp) is just BS in my book. If you watch it closely, Nismo Z can't even catch the Civic R in Straight line. BBBBSSSSSS! in my book. I mean Honda build good cars, but that's just crazy
On the 90th episode of Hot Version (Another Best Motoring DVD shows) You will see an stock S2K Driven by Diasuki Ito (2007 Super GT driver champion-From my poor Japanese translation) getting passed by Civic-R driven by DK on the 2nd of a 3 lap race and never got back.

Yea so imagine how you look to the guy driving home in the Ferrari or Carrera GT.
I call.......................******** and Ill tell ya why. I hate these battle vids cause they prove or disprove whatever they want. One driver drives the doors off, redlining till the cows come home while another appears to be burning up the break in miles. I bet if there was a couple million yen waiting for the winner we might get a honest accurate attempt by all concerned. All to often you see a marginal effort by some drivers or they don't show it at all. Let the Civic people crow........its still a CIVIC !!
I'm glad to hear that a lot of you are in the same mindset as I for I was devastated after I saw the video. As you can see I joined my350z.com in 2003 and I haven't posted that many posts but this one I could not keep to myself.
Oh and for the guys that posted the Youtube video, that is not the race I'm referring to but for comparison sake the lap times are almost identical as the Nismo ran the SUGO circuit in 1'08 and the Type R Civic got 1'06.
So far I believe only juns777 saw the actual video that I'm referring to, and he is right, the Nismo was beaten by the Type R's on the straights. And to answer the concern about tight circuits and not giving the Z the ability to accelerate on the straights, well the race that I'm referring to did have plenty of straights and high speed corners. In fact, the Nismo was first pasted by the Type R during the second of three laps on a high speed corner. :*(
Also I want to address to the concern about how drivers are different towards a Nismo and a Type R. The fact is the drivers are not concerned about the vehicle to the point where they would lose a battle on the straights. But this is a point well mentioned for the Type R that beat the Nismo was driven by the Drift King Tsyuchia San.

i second to this.
(imo). then again, if you put our cars in par with its actual class like in the next video, as MC stated, it dosen't do bad at all. it literally gave the PORSCHE Cayman S a run for it's money considering it costs a lot than our cars. that's something to smile about right?!?
i'm sure one would say it's biased or what not, w/c can be true and i agree, but it still depends on a lot of factors like who's behind the wheel, wheather, temp, tire wear, so on and so fourth. at the end of the day, it puts a smile on my face that i'm driving home with a car performs its job well when i make it and turns heads along the way....
Well I guess nobody here read the article in M/T, which I take as a whole reparable then that garbage vid.

I'm also not hating on the Civic. I might actually buy one as a commuter (~40 mpg hwy?) now that gas is projected to hit/pass $4-$5 bucks a gallon.

I don't care what that video saif I with most of you no way a NA Civic would out lap a Nismo Z or hell even a regular Z.
A highly modified anything can beat most stock vehicles be it Civic or Fiat. I've watched Evos, Fiats, Civics out run stock (maybe older) Lamboghinas in quarter runs in the Youtube track races. Like the Z the Lambo needs more time to strecht its engine out to beat these little hot 1/4 milers. I'm not comparing a Z to a Lambo, just that longer runs are different then Quarters sometimes.
Some of the highway supposed short races I don't put much stock in pending alot of what ifs, like traffic, drivers skill, ... some of the races just look like they passed the opposed car and the other driver didn't even notice them and thats not a race. The driver never even looks over.
If that's a stock Honda Civic R on a tight track maybe, but if there is any length of straight away at all I'd have to say BS!
