Default Nismo Exhaust

Can a midpipe and y-pipe be added to the Nismo muffler to complete the exhaust system?

And are these parts worth adding?

The NISMO Z I would think has the NISMO Y=pip.

But the funny thing is that if the NISMO Z comes with NISMO Catback and the NISMO Catback is more free flowing then stock.

Then why is the NISMO Z not rated with more HP?

It's almost like all 07-08 350z's have same setup with NISMO-Z just with bigger tips.

But I could be wrong.

Is the 07-08 exhaust different than the exhaust for pre 07 models? If it is different than pre 07s and the nismo Z has the Nismo exhaust, then it makes no sense for a 07 or 08 Z to get the Nismo exhaust because no difference in power delivery. It purely become just an auditory mod then. Good catch StoneZ.

The Nismo Z only has the muffler, the rest is the same an any 2007.

Comparing '07-08s to older models. The Y-pipe apparently has smoother bends, but the midpipe and muffler are the same. Aftermarket exhaust systems for 03-06 Zs bolt up to the newer Zs just fine.

I don't think that muffler for the Nismo was added for any type of power, but just for looks, both for the tips and the body of the muffler itself. The muffler itself is exposed and visible due to the diffuser.

I know. I was dissapointed when i learned the car only came with the muffler designed to look sweet and fit under the new rear bumper with diffuser. But if what you're saying is true, getting an after market mid-pipe would fit perfect and my car would have a true cat-back system...?!?

I wouldn't expect much power gain, but yeah, an aftermarket y-pipe and midpipe should be similar to the Nismo cat-back exhaust.

There are plenty of y-pipes that are sold separately, but I don't know of many midpipes that you can buy individually.

I would think that Nismo/Nissan would provide the ability to buy a y-pipe and a mid pipe since they only provided a muffler. The cat back Nismo sells would be superflous as the muffler is the same anyway. I wonder why on the Nismo Z they didn't provide their own full catback. I can only figure that it does not provide any extra power for the 07 and thus possibly contradictory to the Non Nismo Z to buy a Nisno catback. The opposite view could also be possible that the Y-pipe is now better or as good as the Nismo anyway. Has anyone fitted or is it even possible to put an 07+ y-pipe on a pre 07. It possibly could be a few cheap ponies as people sell their stock exhaust for aftermarket units on 07+ cars. Sorry started to ramble.

I had previously recommended adding a mid-pipe, but there is some feedback that an aftermarket mid-pipe will not bolt on to the stock NISMO muffler.

A y-pipe along with HFC or test-pipes should be fine though.

The dimensions for the HR exhaust is supposed to be the same as the DE.

The stock y-pipe has an inlet of 2" and a 2.5" outlet. Though some say that the inlet is 2.25".

The stock mid-pipe should have a 2.5" inlet.

Ataru, what are the dimensions of your HFCs? If the outlet is larger than 2" or 2.25", that could be the source for any rasp.
