Default Wider Tires?

Has anybody tried putting wider tires on, especially on the rear? I'm curious whether 295/30/19 would fit without rubbing the fender.

Similar thoughts and questions regarding 275/35/18 in the front.

I'm guessing they might not fit with the Nismo rim +30 offset....but maybe with some same-size wheels with a +22?

I'm basically trying to see if I can run SCCA B-Stock (can change tires and wheels, but no fender rolling and wheels must be same dimension as stock) with the same setup that I would run for HPDE.

Maybe grab some measuring tape and angle the tape at the angle of the tire offset, just to get a rough idea, or take it down any tire shop and they can probably give you a good estimate.

Having the tires angled the way they are will probably give a few more mm unless it will mean the inside tire wall will hit something.

Might want to post this over in the wheels/tires section. There's probably someone who's put wider tires on the Track/GT wheels and might be able to give a better idea. I've heard of people going with 285 in the rear, but I don't know about 295.

I would guess that the tire sizes would be ok since the NISMO in stock form sits pretty high up, but I can't offer anything other than an uneducated guess.

Solo is planning on going pretty wide, 275/35/18 and 295/30/19 just like you described.

I had a GT/track setup previously and went with a conservative 255/275.

With 275/295, I'd plan on some type of fender rolling. But the Nismo isn't that low so you might have a chance.

I have 285/35/19 on my GT's rears (same wheels). 295 would be fine too if your tire manufacturer considers a 10" wide rim sufficient. Your tire+wheel diameter will be shorter than OEM so I doubt you will have any rubbing issues.

Having a 275 up front though is probably too much. 8.5" isn't wide-enough for that. I have 255 on mine and sidewalls look just right, I wouldn't want any more bulge (there's a sentence you don't hear every day!).

The Nismo edition wheels are 18x9 and 19x10. You can definetly run a 275/35/18 on a 9 inch wide wheel -- the question in my mind, is will it rub with the stock Nismo +30 wheel.

I'd expect the 275s to have a higher level of grip, but would they affect turn-in any or slow the car down due to weight?

Yes, fronts are 9" indeed; I was mistaken. They are the same wheels as on the GT, just different paint with an engraved line on the spokes instead of the 3 dimples.

I still wouldn't go with 275s on the front due to aesthetic reasons. Also, you might want to run your intended front/rear combo through an online diameter calculator to see what the different would be compared to OEM to guess whether or not you are likely to have VDC issues.

I have a 2008 Nismo. I went with 285/30 19 on the rear. Bridgestone re050a. Looks great no rolling and fit perfect. I left the fronts alone. I could go up to a 35 but no 1 had the BS in 35 only 30.

PS. I did try a 295/30 on they rear and the pop out and looked ugly.

post a picture, those rims are just screaming for larger tires. Do your new tires have the rim protector?
