Default Looked at one at the dealer today

So today I went to my local Nissan dealer because I saw that they had a red Nismo in the showroom and I wanted to go see what all the hype was about.

After looking at the car there were a couple of things that I was upset with:
1)Why no leather?!?!?! It is a $40,000 car without leather?
2)Why no navigation system? It seems odd that there are cheaper Z's that have navigation. Now, I understand that the money goes to performance and not to comfort, but STis have navigation as at least an option. And if that money goes to performance, why were there no Nismo intakes? Its not like they are extremely expensive.

Now, I am not hating on the Nismo, I think it is a great car, I just think that it should have the performance and the comfort if it is going to be the flagship Z. Afterall, AMG and M Power still have leather and Navigation.

Do we really need another thread about this?

There's more performance to horsepower and straight line numbers. If you want everything that AMG and M Power offer for the price of a NISMO, you're dreaming. It's a completely different class.

You have a point on the Nav system, since Nissan of Japan offers it over there, but it would cost more. Leather/power/heated seats are over-hyped. I wish we would've gotten the nicer seats that Japan has, but leather is slippery. It doesn't hold you as well in a corner.

The NISMO doesn't come with a Nismo intake for 2 reasons, 1) because they want to get more money from the customer buying accessories. 2) because they aren't made by Nismo. They're made by AEM and aren't available in Japan where the car is made.

Sorry if my reply sounds curt and makes me look like a jackass, but it's not a car about luxury. Either the price is worth it to you or it isn't.

Mainly you just get special welds and handling features. An aerodynamics package that actually works (even though it's not attractive to everyone) and you get to own a numbered limited production car. There's a couple other little things, but that's pretty much what you get for your money.

Quite a few of us NISMO owners stepped up from regular 350z's, so to us, there is a huge power difference because of the HR engine. Even though my car has the same hp as an '07 base model, it's a big performance gain from my '05.

Yes the NISMO is more than straight line speed and comfort, but I don't think it would hurt if Nissan offered these things as options.

In general, Nissan offers things as packages rather than just single options. It's be cool if you could option a Nismo or any 350Z just to your liking.

Oh and as far as an M car, an Mcoupe or Mroadster can be had brand new in the very low 40K range.

its not a 40k car, its closer to 36k actually.
and its all about the performance, not the leather and navigation - you want those and performance? go for the M. then you're looking at 60K+

and the STI... god... that things just nasty, even if its 30k and got all the leather and nav that could fit in there.

I thought it was 'all about the performance'. Does it matter if its ugly?

when talking about the nismo z vs other z's and M, amg, etc yes, but the new sti is a station wagon so its out of this league.

Everyone thinks I am speaking condescendingly. I'm not. I was just saying that stuff because I think it should be in the car. The only perfect car I have found yet was the Hammann White LP640 Murcielago. It is a great car and I think the price is fine. I just feel that they should have the Nismo package for other Z. This however would do away with the numbered aspect of the car.

Well there is a "built it yourself" option for Nismo. It's not the same as the factory model, but you can order yourself either an s-tune or r-tune based off any trim level you like. That's what I had done with my '05. I picked the Enthusiast trim level and then had them all the s-tune stuff before I took delivery. And since I bought the car that way, it ended up being cheaper than if I would've modified it myself.

Doing this to a Grand Touring model would kick the price far past that of the factory NISMO, but you'd get all your luxury and a bit more add-ons than the limited edition version and what most probably everyone would consider a far more tasteful body kit.
