GT-R going way of the Nismo..??
Price dropping on GT-R...
Quick backround.
I started calling local dealers about 3 months back because my father was looking for a sports car with AWD. So I when I called they all laughed at me and told me they would be rediculously hard to get and they are all already sold out unless you want to pay 20K over MSRP. So time comes for my dad to get a car, and he looked at the G35x. I called the dealer I bought my Nissan from and told them that he would come in that day and pay cash if they would give him a GT-R for sticker. I was just trying to see how far they would budge. They laughed at me and told me no way. So today I get a call and they are like well is your father still interested in that GT-R. We can go 5K over sticker. I said if you come down to MSRP ill tell him about it. So I just got another call back a few minutes ago from the dealer but they didnt leave a message.
This car was supposidly already sold and what not. Do you think in a years time these are going to be going the way of the Nismo in the fact that you will be able to get them for invoice? It gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside listening to the dealer squirm on the phone, not being able to unload this car that they were supposidly getting 20K over MSRP for.

every dealer is different but the national market value on the car is still a strong 10K over average with dealers fishing for more.
over the GTRs 5 year life cycle they are decreasing production every year
so it will maintain atleast MSRP to moderate mark up for a while. the 20K over was pretty much an artificial asking price that only a few jumped on. i know of alot of dealers who are still sitting on allocations for 20K over. then i know dealers who have sold out at 10K over. then there are a few that have done MSRP and MSRP will become more common as the initial launch passes.
one thing to know invoice to MSRP is around 4200 for the dealer plus holdback so they arnt making that much on each car at MSRP. so if you include how much they are in for for certification and equipment it wouldnt make sense for them to come off MSRP since its only about 4K

My brother bought a BLACK GTR at UNIVERSAL CITY NISSAN in LA for MSRP and they gave him floormats for free LOL he did not order it, just walked in saw it bought it and no one made a huge deal about it he said, that dealer ship is the usa #1 nissan dealer so maybe thats the best place to pick one up, i have a 350z nismo and really dont think the prices have tanked, Most people I talk to dont even know that this is all factory option car I really think this car in the long run will hold its value very strong.

I need to go back to the dealer I bought my nismo from next june when they get in their 5 GT-R's. Supposevly one of them was for a dad buying it for his 17 year old son

Seriously though... an $80,000 supercar for a 17 year old? This better be his second car, and his first better have been a 300+WHP car...

thanks!
i would rather not publiclly comment on what i paid
yes only the GM can sell it
no Nissan cannot control selling price although they can limited allocations in theory but its unlikely
nissan thought about voiding 3rd party warranty but they backed off the idea as they realized it would be unfair to someone who honestly needed to sell it for whatever reason
maintainence is so so i got ahold of the service manual today. the first big $ doesnt come to about 18K miles and for me thats probably 2 years of driving
