I do agree to each there own! And some people (mostly Nismo owners) think its the best looking and handling z straight from the factory! I will also agree on this issue aswell! Mainly because its the first model with very visual body changes right out the showroom! The point that I was trying argue yesterday is that everyone (5 in a very small area in WV) I see (i think) is being used as a daily driver! I dont live near any road coarse tracks! So as a daily driver , pulling out of driveway, making the right turn onto highway doing the normal 70-75mph, pulling into work, and then repeating to go home! All you owners are going to tell me that the handling is so superior to any other 350Z! Come on be honest! And just say you bought it because its a numbered car and is special for that reason! How many of you who were bashing me yesterday have actually had thier Nismo on a track and then could say they could feel the difference between models on how it handled? BE HONEST! I am not trying to hate on anyones car! I promise, I love all 350Z's!
And for the person who said the body panels couldnt be bought without the vin #, and that Nissan wanted the old back! I called just the closest Nissan dealer and told them what I wanted and was told if I paid with a credit card today I could have by Friday, no problems! And he just laughed when I asked him if I needed to give back my old ones!!! BUT BEWARE ALL YOU NISMO OWNERS! Those body pieces must be wrapped in gold leaf because those pieces are rediculously exspensive. $1850 just in the front alone! Ouch!!!

And whether you beleive it or not, NISMO Z's have way better handling than a standard Z, they don't call it "the best handling z ever" for nothing, perhaps you should read up on it a little better and actually realize the major differences between the nismo and a standard z.
I did do alot of reading, I assure you! Before I ordered my GT it took me 3 months to decide on which model I wanted and why! And I assure you that if a Nismo Edt would have been one of the options in 06 it would have been a major choice! But have you personally raced your car on a track? If so I am totally surprised! I havent seen one anywhere else than sitting in car shows and mall parking lots! Do you think its just a coinsidence that the Track model was discontinued at the exact same time as the Nismo's introduction? Do you think if someone bought a GT model (for the Brembos) and lost the leather seats for a cheap set of cloth and added an actuall R-Tune Nismo suspension, actual R-Tune exhaust, and a set of 18" Nismo lightwieght wheels that on a road track your Nismo Edt would blow it out off of the track????? Im 100% sure every Nismo Edt owner is going to say yes but in the back of your mind you dont have any idea! IMO having the actual R-tune components that I listed would give an advantage to the GT model only because they are actual race parts!!!! Not a hybrid suspension between a factory and the R-tune, and you experts have to know that the exhaust in your Nismo Edt's are the exact same as what comes in every other model 350z except for larger Diameter tips with Nismo on them! Agian you guys dont realize that I read alot!!!! And again, that I am not trying to bash your car by no means! I just want an owner to explain why there z is so superior to another model if all they use it for is daily driving? And that the biggest desicion maker for the purchase of a Nismo Edt is the fact that its a numbered car! And special for that reason! If it was just another model line instead of only 1500 would everyone of you still have bought one? No one was running out and buying track models when they were still available, on paper they were faster (Lighter, Brembo's) than any other models available! Think about it! Maybe if Nissan would have only made 1500 of them you all would have bought a track model instead! Who can argue with that?

Why does anybody need to explain anything to you?
Why do you need to explain anything to anybody?
They bought what they bought, and you bought what you bought.
All this bickering about what is better, faster, or whatever is really
useless, and I mean useless! Nobody is going to win this argument.
You believe what you believe, and they believe what they believe.
In the end what difference does it really make anyway?
Be happy with what you have, and let others do the same.
GT's are badass, and so are Nismo's...

I actually was attracted to the NISMO because of it's looks. I don't race mine, and it's my daily driver. Most of the people on this site don't race their cars. Yet most spend a ton of money on suspension upgrades, body kits, exhaust, wings, forged wheels, blah blah blah. I love the way my car looks (although I will be making some small mods), I love the way my car drives, I love almost everything about my car (except for the cheap seats!). But that is why it's MY car and not yours. And check out the NISMO section of this forum, you will find that a handful of owners DO in fact race their cars.
Actually, the r-tune suspension was never made available to the public. It's the s-tune suspension you are thinking of. The track model was not the lightest of the bunch. The base or the enthusiast were better models for tracking the car as they did not have VDC (Enthusiast has TCS, but you can shut that off 100% unlike VDC), and the brembo brakes, while better for tracking the car than the lower end brakes, still needed to be upgraded for someone that was racing.
I bought a Nismo because I wanted to upgrade to the HR engine when the '07's first came out. I was going to add on all the s-tune products as I had already done on my previous '05 s-tune that I owned, but before I had the chance to upgrade, the Nismo came out and I thought :"Why the hell not".
Coming from a previous s-tune, I can assure you that, even without tracking the car, you can tell the difference in handling. While I did buy the car more for the status of having the limited number car, it is a lot better than the standard models. That's not to say that the standard models are rubbish, but if you plan on upgrading suspension and having more power while staying N/A, why not get the Nismo? If you want to have gobs of power from going FI, then the previous model is your best bet (as I'm sure was a major deciding factor for you based on your sig and SN).
Eventually, there will more FI options available to the HR engine, but for those of us that have them, they are either a well sorted car that you don't need to mod and can enjoy as is, or a better platform to start modding from. Your argument that most of us will never appreciate the difference over the standard models with s-tune options is futile since ALL 350z's are built to be able to perform any sort of racing that anyone might be interested in. They all have good horsepower, and handle well. Anyone that doesn't take a normal 350z to some sort of track, won't ever fully appreciate how the car was built and probably bought it for status as well.
So what made you buy a 350z over an Altima coupe or a Mustang? Did you research every possible chasis available by every manufacturer, weigh your needs, figure out the available mods, and then purchase a car? Or did you see a 350z, think "damn that's sexy and has good performance" and learned a bit about them before you bought one? That's what I did back in '04, as did probably most people on this board.
I just like a different trim level than you.

At first I was only voicing my opinion on a totally different topic (like everyone else) and was called out for it! So I then was defending why I felt that way and again was ridiculed for it! Sorry for upsetting anyone! That was not my intent.

Very well put! I actually am a fan of old Mopars. My dad has a 72 Rally Challanger and I have a 74 Cuda. I wanted to stick with mopar but the only option at the time was a Crossfire! Way to ugly for my taste! I then decided that I wanted a 2 seater sports car for excitement! I knew I wouldnt be able to leave it alone no matter what I bought so being able to buy goodies for the VQ was a big draw to the Z and G. I test drove a 35th edt and was hooked on a Z! But I didnt like the Black, silverstone, and yellow that it was available in. So I was stuck in a time in late 05 where you couldnt order a new 06 so I went back to the drawing board and looked over all the models and picked them apart for what I wanted in a car. I ultimatly decided to wait an extra month to order an 06 gt. Again guy's dont think I am an ***. I really do love all 350Z's. Like you stated they are all very similar just in different trim.
I have raced mine many times, and it is superior over the normal 350z on the track. Other 350z owners that are local to me, have been in my car, also have seen it in action with theirs and know that it easily out handles theirs even with suspension mods I can still pull away in the turns.

Ouch!!!

The front bumper cover is only $480. But the under cover is $380 too. LOL!
