Default Just installed cold air intake on my Nismo

Just installed the cold air intake on my Nismo. As many said there isn't any real crazy power gain from this. I would say it feels a little better responding to gas after about 3500 RPM. That would make sense as there is more air going at higher RPMs. The sound is awesome and gets better the higher the RPM. Installation as pretty simple.
One question: when I put the strut bar back in, it was a little hard to get the bolts in. Plus I wonder if the possible different position of the bar (there is a lot of room to play with) changes the setup of the car.
Under breaking I have a little noise, but I am not yet sure if thats normal or something hitting.
the Air filter cones hit the remains from the original air duct.
Now I am wondering if it would make sense to design a hood and/or fender with ventilation slots to improve air supply to the filters....

overall I love it

I pulled out the airducts for more room. Honestly, I don't think they are doing a whole lot. Also, you the strut brace is adjustable. You might just have to adjust it. I have the NISMOs and I don't have any issues.

the nismo intakes aren't a true CAI system, and people have actually shown a loss in hp when they install them.

I don't buy it. Even if there were losses, it would be so minimal you wouldn't ever notice. My butt dyno likes the NISMO intakes just fine. And I still crush mustangs at the track!

Default re intakes

not sure what your doing on the install. mine went in without removing the bar. also I gained hp. in stock trim, there was a flat spot at 4200 rpm. thats gone. its much more linear on throttle response. unless you are a suspension expert, I would adjust that strut brace. the car has enough under steer as it is.

Don't base your opinions off of what people on here say. The only way to tell is find someone local who has them and then you can see if you like them. Like I said, even if there was a loss, it would be so minimal you wouldn't tell. So I base my opinion off of looks/sound and also my performance at the track and I love mine!

IMO the Pop Charger looks ghetto because it uses the stock tubes. The NISMO intakes are a lot cleaner looking.

Hi folks,

I paid $450 for a Stillen cold air intake set up. They stated in their advertisment they had the only true cold air intake for my 2007. I bought it, I received it, I opened the box and sent it back. I lost $43 in postage and insurance. And if, by chance, the idiot from Stillen is reading this, A SHIELD DOES MAKE A COLD AIR INTAKE! When I spoke to these dummies at Stillen they said, "Well, we think it does." That's it for Stillen and for MSA where I purchased that junk. Cold air intake is like pregnant, it either is or it isn't. Can you tell I'm still mad at those idiots.

John

Exactly my point. If people are so concerned about that little bit of horse power, maybe they should sell their NISMO rims. They are big and heavy, especially the rears. I don't understand why people make such a big deal out of it. Most of them will never see a track. I go to the 1/8th Mile track every friday, and like I said previously, I still kill every stock mustang and even some modded ones. And that's completely stock with ONLY the NISMO intakes (more mods coming soon). So honestly, unless you are a hardcore race guy where 1-2 HP will matter, I wouldn't listen to the naysayers.

trying to measure intake gains on a dyno is more than a bit useless - especially when there is no ecu tuning involved
