Default Oil pressure

Is it normal, after car is sittin outside overnight or in a chilly garage, that when i start the car, oil pressure is at about 120 psi?? This kinda makes me freaked out. Then after i let car sit for a couple minutes to warm up and im cruisin thru my neighborhood in first gear, shifting to second, etc, at a low speed, the pressure is still almost 90 psi. After about 10-15 minutes of driving, cruising is about 60 psi, and idle is roughly 40-50? I was just wondering if the HIGH psi upon startup is normal..cause this is a PSI that I see when i floor it from a start. Thanks for any input

yes, normal... you don't have to be afraid about high pressure... but about LOW pressure. if you see less than 15psi, start being a problem.
also depends on the oil...
with the "regular" dino 10w30 you'll see pretty low pressure... with a 0w40 or 5w50 or 15w15 (I use the last for hpde during the summer in texas) you go at less than 60psi only on the track with the oil incredibly hot.

I changed the oil at around 1100 miles, and put in mobil 1 5w30 and a k &n oil filter. I changed it again at 3500 miles just to clean out ANY other metal shavings, impurities and other stuff that may have built up durin break in. I find the mobil 1 to make the oil temp. sliiiightly cooler and its been great in my fathers 08 vette. Its just when I see the needle THAT high i was like whoa buddy. But then again, its getting alil colder around here and I know the engine needs to warm up. But im glad its normal, it puts me at ease

so far that I don't have an oil temp gauge I use the pressure to understand when it's warm. if you drive for a good mileage.. press the clucth and check the pressure with the engine idling and no load from the drivetrain.... that its the warm condition in normal driving.. when the oil is around that value you can "ask" what you want from the car with very little concern.

Its normal, in order to protect an engine at start-up, the oil needs to be thinner when cold so it flows freely to lubricate parts - hence why the oil pressure spikes to 120 psi until engine gets to operating temperature.
