Duel air intakes

The best place to research this would be the VQ35HR forum. However, most on there will tell you how great your stock airboxes are, but for me, they look like ***, hence why I got the NISMOs. The Injen CAI seem to have slight gains, however look to be more of a pain to install. Also, not sure how they clear the yamaha dampener in the front.

Hi folks,
I hope this helps. When I first got my Nismo I ordered the Stillen dual air intakes as Stillen said they were sealed or had a true cold air path or some other similar BS. They were a pretty penny too. On the day they arrived, all my race buddies were there. (Okay, just two of them.) They had a good laugh at my expense as you could poke your hand around the shields. Long story short, the intakes were not really shielded from the engine heat. When I called Stillen and spoke to one of their guys he said, "Well, we think they are."
I sent them back to Motorsports and asked to be reimbursed for the $43 in shipping and insurance since the product was not as it was advertised. They said no, so I don't do business with them.
Stay away from the Stillen CAI system. I saw pictures of the Injen system. That was a very nice setup. Personally, I'd go with the K&N filters in the stock boxes. Good luck to you.

Heat soak is a primary concern with induction systems that pull air from inside the engine bay.
Most of the dynamometer readings posted by the manufacturers of various intakes are all in controlled environments where the temperature and humidity (including barometric pressure) is all "baseline". Usually 70 degree's with 10-15% humidity, in other words, indoors.
In daily driving, you will likely see either no gains in horse power, but torque usually is increased, mildly. But most of the reason people buy the SRI is for the sound they create. Which I agree is very aggressive and appealing.
My opinion, I would go with the K&N drop in set. For now, you would not have to worry about voiding a factory warranty, or increased heat soak of that matter.
(SIDE NOTE: Mine's drop in filters for the HR were developed by K&N)
