15,000 Mile Checkup?
Its getting about that time, my car is about to hit 15,000 miles.
So far I have only done oil and filter changes.
At my last service I asked the dealer and he said that at 15,000 you just need to do another oil/filter change and get the fuel injectors cleaned or swapped or something.
He said there was no need for new tires or an alignment because they said they tires were wearing very well, which I was suprised since I spend a day sliding my car sideways for about 4 hours at in auto X in November.
Is there anything else that you guys who have hit the 15,000 mile mark have done?

Dealers ripping you off dude. No need to get the injects cleaned/flushed/baked/etc... Go check the manual for what you need to do for the service intervals instead of relying on people who are trying to make a buck off people, well who don't check the manual.
I don't think the service guys get commision for the service they get you to do. I mean I asked him about brakes, tires, alignment, and he said all those were fine. I don't think he would lie about the fuel injectors. I've taken a look at the manual, and every 3,700 miles it tells you to do a whole list of things, but from what I have heard on here and from the dealers have been similiar... "just change the oil,the Z's really don't need that much maintainence."
but like I said, any of you who have hit the 15,000 mile mark, is there any type of service you have had done other than changing the oil?

My maintainence schedule is changing the synthetic 5W30 Mobil 1 oil about every 3,000 miles.
Its been about 4-5 months since I last changed my oil because I did not drive it much over the winter, but I swear after I got it serviced last saturday with about 3,000 miles from my last change, it felt like the car ran smoother.
Maybe it was just a mental thing, because I knew it had been changed, but I can't imagine going 15,000 miles before an oilchange with hard driving, even with that new Mobil 1 extended life stuff.
My dad reciently got an M3 and they were like yea free oil changes.... once every year or 15,000 miles.
I don't care what people say, if you drive agressivley you gotta change the lifeblood.
But getting back to you David, do you happen to have a link at your fingertips for the manual? Im at work and I can't look at it until I get home now, and now thats all im going to think about all day.

I missed my 15k service and have about 25k right now. No problems so far, car is running great. Only thing I did was change oil/filter and the intake filter. But I will be taking the car in to see if everything is well.

I have little faith if you are basing your tire replacement needs on what the dealer told you..
1) I would consider myself extreamly naive for the most part when it comes to car maintainence. I don't think its in their best interest to give me stuff I don't need, because if I do find out that they ripped me off they will simply loose my business.
2) I don't think they charge you to inspect easy stuff like tire wear and fluid levels.
They said they checked the tires and it was x/32 or something or other and they said that I should be fine for a while, if they do make money off the tires wouldn't they have told me to replace them?
My oil change usually costs about 60 bucks all together.
The labor rate is $95 an hour
So I buy 5 quarts of Mobil 1 synthetic which is about $35 and they charge me $25 for the change which I figure takes about 15 minutes + a filter =$25 which is reasonable to me.
I have no way of changing it on my own oil, plus I heard the Z is kind of a ***** anyways because there is a bunch of bolts underneath the car (many more than normal cars I mean)
and for me to invest in ramps, tools, and have my mom scream at me the whole time I do it because I might get a drop of oil within 50 yards of the house... it just aint worth it.
I am a service manager at a repair shop.... the service writers do make money (in the form of a bonus check) off of you performing your maintenance with them. Fuel injection services are taboo, and unnecessary if you are using good gas (i use shell exclusively). The fluid services are more important as any oil will break down over time. Its even a good idea to replace the brake fluid every few years as it is hygroscopic meaning it absorbs water over time reducing the boiling point. I would suggest always getting a second opinion before doing anything a dealer suggests. The checkover services are a rip off as well the items they charge you to check are usually pencil whipped and would be checked free with an oil change at almost any other automotive service center. Most people in the auto service industry have got a bad rep by the actions of few but for the most part 95% of the service writers out there are honest people.
oh and another thing, i know that for vettes you can by a special lift pad set for when you put the car up on a lift (also sold by GM), so nothing is damaged. do they have something similar to this for our Z's? reason why i ask is because my dad has a lift at his shop, so i always do my own maintenance and oil changes and what not...
I use the stock jack to lift it enough off the ground so I can get my normal jack underneath.
I did my first oil change around 1,500 miles to synthetic and now I just do what the manual says, every 3,750 with synthetic.
