I've lost count how many times i've been pulled over for this, atleast 6 or 7 times, but only got a ticket once; and everytime it was from the highway patrol, regular city cops don't give a rats ***.

^thats the truth. I just hate wasting my time getting pulled over. As far as the options, Ive been trying to draw up a mock removable plate holder that would fit directly into our towholes - home depot and a torch are in my future!

^^^

yup

Now I say this with the most sincerity for safe driving...

One or two responsible drinks before driving a car is always risky/dumb idea...please keep in mind most cops are haters...

One might catch a glimpse of you leaving a club or at a stop light looking too fresh...

Now think what runs through his/her mind "whats wrong here"...

consider yourself warned...

I talked to a couple police friends - apparently they like using the plate as a target for the lazer speed guns. It gives them a more reliable reflection then off the slanted sheet metal and plastic. That being said, i still hate having one on my Z.

Zee Bracket will not fit. Had one and tried it already. But I think the Stillen one will with a extension.

Thought, I would make a thread for "Us Nismo Owners" regarding this so called problem of connecting the front plate (for state residents where it's the law).

The Options:
1. Drill in the bumper (ohh hellzz no)
2. Create some sort of contraption that has a soft piece around the plate and attatch it to the pieces with some zipties (chance of charring the paint)
3. Stillen bracket or Zee Bracket (do these even fit, because of our extended nose)
4. Add a 2" extension (weld) to the tow hook and attach the plate with a zip tie
5. Screw it and just live on the edge and if you get a ticket you get the ticket!

BTW, I want to also, add that in no way do I think I am above the law nor am I saying that the Nismo Z is anymore special than a normal Z, I literally just would to find others Nismo owners and see if they have had the same problem. Thanks!

Pictures would really help too. I'm going to work on it a little bit this weekend and will make sure to post if I'm any bit successful.

has anyone even measured from the tow hook hole to the front of the bumper? it looks pretty long to me... i think is might be the only one out there that might fit nicely and with enough length...

Sillen makes a plate holder for olders Zs based on a tow hook extension. Of course on our Nismo's the extension is not long enough. I wonder if we get a big enough group together we can get them to make a longer extension as a group buy?

that would actually be sweet... i did some measuring yesterday, and going to put something together for now... to have clearance and extra space for screws, a good length is 7 1/4" plus length for thread...

Here in NC we don't need a front plate, but I recall from my time living in Ohio that nice sports cars had their plates in their front windows on their dashboards... Is that not legit?

Good luck. Seems as tho they have their eyes on you.
Ditto to that. When I head over to my apartment in BK they did not give crap, either.

If you don't mind paying 60 bucks each time you get stopped for it, just keep paying it, It helps the economy, which is the only reason they pull you over for it in the first place. Job secuity for the cops.

In 3 years I haven't gotten a ticket for no front plate. When/if it happens, I will pay the fixit ticket once or maybe twice then put the plate on permenant.
