Thanks to all of you who posted the fact that the front spring spacers are typically left in place by the dealership. I was a bit concerned over the stiff ride of my new 2007 Nismo but after reading your posts removed the spacers and what a difference!

 

I'm surprised that dealerships still haven't learned to take those things out when someone buys a Nismo. I wonder how many Nismo owners are currently driving around with their spacers on.

Some years ago I bought a 280zx(Mint) from Minnesota.. and the same day the car came off the car carrier.. I took it to the local Nissan dealer to have everything checked out..etc.. and they found the orig.
spring spacers still in there....

yeah, mine had them too. the dealer looked at me like i was in lala land when i bought the car when asked them to remove them. i ended up doing it myself

 

jack the front end up so that the spring is at rest. look up in there and you will see a little black rectangular spacer in the spring. you can pop it out with your hand once its jacked up, you dont even have to take the wheel off. i just reached in and did it. (although mine was on a lift so it was a little easier for me to reach in)

to note what a difference it makes, when the spacers were still in i could fit a floor jack under the car to jack it up, after wards i could not

Same crap happened to me.
I went to the dealership and they refused to look at it without an appointment...
So, I did it myself... crappy dealerships...

 

My dealer didn't know what I was talking about, then when they saw them they recommended keeping them in so the car would have more ground clearance

 

I looked to see if the spacers were there when I bought my Nismo. I looked, it wasn't there, and off I went. The problem was I only checked the left side. I was cleaning my car yesterday and just pulled the spacer off the right side. What kind of knuckle-head dealer pulls off one but not the other.

 

Yeah, mine were still in there, and I bought the car used. Takes all of 5 seconds to pull out the 3 pieces in each spring, but I had to lower the car back down on some 2x4's to get the jack back out safely. Brings the nose down to where it should be and greatly improves the ride quality.

 

I too know the pain.




That is exactly what the spacers look like. Is this a support group??
