My Nismo Story.............
Just incase any of you guys have made some bad decisions I thought I would share mine to make you feel better that your not alone.
Some time ago I purchased an 08 Nismo. I went into the dealer considering a 370 Z and the salesman and I walked into the warehouse and once I got a glimpse of that red nismo 350 I bought it on impulse I fell in love. I thought i paid too much considering the prices ive seen some of them go for new to other members and factoring the nismo 370 was out so I returned the car.
I lost a good amount of money in the return but now its been about 7 months and I still want another nismo. Ive owned two 350z's, 2 M3's, a 325, and a Supra other than the nismo.
But the main point is I still find myself wanting another nismo so I am in the search. Only this time I am looking for a used 08. Ive seen them under 30k and that is better for me now since I spend majority of my time in school I didnt deserve a brand new one.

For some reason I love the nismo 350, even over the 370. after all my cars I still love the nismo and supra the most that ive ever owned. I would have still had the supra until this day if I didnt lose it in an accident.

Good luck with the search. It's a shame you returned the car, lost money, and now want it back.
Hopefully you learned from it.
But you had some nice rides (M3 and Supra). Supra's are just plain bad ***, and I don't see as many as I used to.
Why did you get rid of the M3? I always kind of wanted to get one, but there was always something else that just seemed better. They are very common in the Chicago-land area. Everyone and their mom has one seems like.
I too like to go through cars.

very nice rides as well. which ones are the current(s) The m3 was very fun but unreliable. so many stupid things went wrong it was frustrating. always at the dealer and once my warranty expired i had to start paying.
ultimately i would want another supra but I think that will be better when Im done with school and settled down since anyone I buy will probably be too old and will need some work. The nismo will be pretty much new and can enjoy right away.
I am very close minded with cars thats the problem, i only seem like to m3's, z's and supras, also lambos but cant afford those yet
i feel like ive seen your rs4 before because they are not that common, what area in illinois are you in?

I am in the NW suburbs... The Nismo is the most current ride. The other ones I either sold or traded. I purchased the Nismo back in June with just a couple miles on it and right now it only has about 1,200 miles. The last 3 - 3 1/2 months its been in storage cause of our lovely weather here.
I am looking forward to taking it out and enjoying it once winter passes.
I can see your reasoning in regards to the M3's reliability.
That's funny that you were originally looking to get a 370z and got a Nismo instead. When the 370z came out I went to the dealer to test drive a 370z and hopefully purchase one... test drove the 370z and wasn't too impressed. Beautiful interior, terrible blind spots, and it just didn't feel right.
Then I saw the 350z Nismo on the lot and asked to test drive it and fell in love with it. Price wise it was less than a new 370z w/sport package, and the looks and performance of it sold me.

defintely agree with you. im in glenview so we are not to far from eachother. have you ever worked out at lifetime by anychance because i saw a silver rs4 there once
how much does a 370 with sport package cost? because i was looking at a base 370 at first and it was around 30. ended up getting the nismo for 34 + ttl and rim protection it was a little under 40k.
I wish i kept it but i know for 40k it wasnt worth it because in a couple months i could have found one for less. 7 months later my old nismo is still on the dealers lot for 34k. i doubt anyone is going to buy it.

I just read your horror story with buying the Nismo, returning it, buying a base 350z, and then selling that... WOW... just WOW.
I've gone through the whole car buying process about 7 times now and only ONCE did I go into the dealership, bought the car for an agreed upon price, and left there within 1-2 hours once the paperwork and everything was taken care of. I wasn't offered any extra service, warranties, or have the dealer try and change the price. That was the only time I left satisfied and happy from a car buying experience.
99% of the time car buying sucks and is stressful because you are dealing with a bunch of snakes (er...salesmen). You really got screwed over and the best thing out of that situation is the fact that hopefully you learned A LOT.
Buying a car is a big deal, it is most likely going to be the second biggest purchase you make in your lifetime next to buying a home so you have to be prepared. From your experience you sound like a young kid. That being said, don't go to the dealership by yourself!
They will see you and they will take advantage and they will rape you as you have found out.
I don't want to go on and on about this, so I will just wrap it up and give you some advice.
1. Don't go alone, bring someone that has experience in buying/selling and can help you negotiate and talk.
2. Go to the dealership knowing what it is you want and how much it should cost. Check edmunds.com for the TMV (True Market Value) of a car. It is pretty close to what you should be paying.
3. Negotiate the price of the car and NOT THE MONTHLY PAYMENTS.
4. Get your own financing. Try CapitalOne.com and get a blank check to purchase a car. Don't rely on getting the dealers 0% interest rate, you will more than likely not get it. The dealer will also try and make some extra money off of you by offering a higher interest rate and making you believe that is the best any bank will give you. Don't believe them.
5. Remember, you aren't forced to purchase anything. If the dealer isn't negotiating with you or isn't giving you the deal you should get, get up and get out. There are other dealers and cars out there.
6. And lastly, before you sign ANYTHING check all the numbers and make sure you are paying what you agreed upon. They throw a lot of papers at you to sign, take your time and look over them. Don't let them rush you.
