Question Number placard removal

I installed a stereo in the Z last week and put some scratches in the number placard on the center console. I figure that I can polish the scratches out but I need to get the placard off first. Is it just glued down?

Thanks.

It just pops out, take a butter knife or something you can pry under the plaque and pull up on one of the corners.

I just receive my number plate From Nissan two weeks ago after seven months.

The dealer scratch my plate after they remove my dash.
I did not know the plate number was so sensitive to scratches, so after they return it i have cover the plate with the clear cover is used on the clear bra.
now i can relax.

You can buy a replacement but it is really expensive... and you will have to wait a long time. Search on the forum, I know someone made a post about it before.

Something like, you have to send in your #plate in first and then after they confirm they send out your new one? Like $300??? Something like that....

Here is my weird mess of a Nismo serial plate.

I sent an email to Courtesy Nissan about getting a new one. Hopefully they can help.

I searched for the thread about getting it replaced and didn't come up with anything.

Why not try to put a nice brush-finish look back on it? I've done that a couple times in different applications, takes a little patience but looks nice if done right.

I can live with it if I have to. I just get a little OCD with my cars from time to time.

It's just funny to me that the only part I scratch while putting my stereo in was the one-off part that you can't replace with out a headache.

It's not that big of a headache. Go to a Nissan dealership, pay $195, give them your current plaque which they send back, and wait for the new one to come in.

^ Hey! I like that answer.
If that's all it takes I'll put an order in when I have my car in for an oil change next week.

I'll post how it goes.

I finally went to the dealer and the parts guy looked at me like I was a crazy person. I had a feeling they wouldn't have any idea how to order this damn thing.

I had the same thing happen to my number plate when I got a new stereo installed a while ago, it got scratched up. I thought about trying to buff it out, but haven't. It's hard to tell from your picture how good/bad it looks, I take it that it looks worse now than it did before?

What exactly did you use to buff it?
