Default 2007 Nismo questions.

Hey guys,
I have a few questions on my nismo, its in the body shop to get the lower body kit painted to match the car, as well as a seibon carbon hood that is being painted to match. I pulled the seats out to get burnt orange leather wrapped and ill post pics as soon as its done. My forst question is the clutch, why does it engage almost all the way up, i must have 3 feet of play to the floor. The dealership says its fine, since its my first z i was just wondering if thats true, compared to my corvette were the clutch would engage just off the floor its getting hard to get use to it. The second is i have 20" MSR wheels all the way around and im having a problem with my slip light engaguing when ever i corner hard is there a fix for that. the last question is i have nismo intakes and exhaust snd was wondering if free flow cats will give me any more power. thanks

I'll try to answer them in order.

First off, my clutch has always engaged along side the foot rest. I can take half of my foot and put it on the clutch petal and when the other half of my foot hits the foot rest evenly I can safely shift.

I don't know any Z owners who are using 20" wheels. 19" is the most perferred. Have you tried disabling the Traction control? The only time I use that system is if I get caught in a shower.

I would remove the Nismo intakes. The stock airboxs provide much cooler air intake temps. Injen or Stillen long tube intakes are the only way togo but IMO still provide negligible gains.

Crawford HFC's will net you some nice gains. Are you running the stock exhaust or Nismo S-tuned? If you are using the stock exhaust at least upgrade the midpipe & Y-pipe. Better yet just get a complete system. Once your done with those mods/corrections go and have it Dyno tuned!

Thanks for the response, when you say half of your foot on the pedal im a little confused sorry could you clarify. I was told that i needed to have the dealer reset my slip indicator due to larger tires, something about putting the car in neutral and rolling it backwords?? any idea. As far as the exhaust ya its a factory nismo at least the tail pipes and mufler say nismo?

The Nismo muffler is made by HKS and is tuned. The rest of the exhaust system is the same as any other stock system. So there is alot of restriction.

I mean I can put half of my foot on the clutch petal and when the other half hits flush with the foot rest thats where my clutch engagement is. I also wear a size 12 shoe and have wide feet. lol German/Dutch

I have only seen my slip light once and thats when there was some sleet/ice build up early in the fall.

Ditch your Nismo intakes. Go with something else! As for the Slip issue post it over in the wheels & tires section. https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-tires-60/

The clutch in the Z catches rediculously high. I though there was something wrong when I got my car as well. It has about 25,000 miles and still going strong.

However.... If you have a low numbered 07 you may want to check with your dealer if your car has been recalled due to clutch slave cylinder problems. Its an easy fix but definitely be aware of it.

My car is an 07 #582 and was not affected. If your number is lower than that check into it.

Welcome. No need to hide this in the NISMO forum. A clutch is a clutch. Plenty of clutch threads to keep you busy for weeks.

Maybe SLIP light is ON because the tires are slipping? It works like that.

I agree, the clutch does engage on the high side, in comparison to other cars I've driven. With that said, I just got used to it. There is a thread on adjusting the clutch pedal height. Some have no problems, some do. Depends on how much you adjust it. My recommendation is to stay away from touching the adjustment.

If you're looking at intakes, people seem to gravitate towards the Injen or Stillen Gen3. Otherwise, stock air box seems to be the best.
