Default Damn drunk drivers

Last friday on my way to the office from a client's office (~5:45pm), I was rear-ended while entering the interstate. It destroyed the hell out of the back of my car. I am very frustrated because the driver was intoxicated. Not only did I spend almost 6 months working on purchasing this car by finding the best deal I could on a new 08 Nismo in August of 09, but I had to drive almost 1000miles one way to go get it. I have spent countless hours cleaning it and maintaining it to the highest degree for some inconsiderate a-hole to come by and diminish the value down to nothin....that is, if it can be fixed.

His insurance has admitted fault and will be covering everything. I have had the car towed to a fairly local body shop that has been highly recommended and has a great reputation for dealing with exotic cars.

I guess the best thing is that I am ok and no injury as of right now. If they total it, I guess I will go with a 370 sport. The Nismo did a great job of keeping me safe in thius accident and I believe I owe my lack of injuries to it.

Thanks for reading.

Wow. Nice car, I hope it all works out and you get to keep the Nismo.

Im going to see what the insurance says, I will be going there when they do their adjustment because I want to see the car broken down. I will discuss with them whether I can buy the car back if it is totaled, if so, I will part out.

I should know something by friday.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I will prob go with the 370 sport and then I wouldn't be paying much more than I was paying for the Nismo. I had only had the car for less than a year and only had 14k miles on it. Such a waste.

That's extremely shitty....but to be honest with you you'll be okay with the car. There's nothing too vital in the back and the value of the car is way higher than the repair. From my experience you are looking at 7-9K from a good shop for labor/parts/and paint. What sucks is Nissan White paint is going to be difficult to match, much like their silvers. You'll have to eye it in bright daylight and also at night to see if it matches exactly.

If they do decide to fix it, you can always sue the guy for diminished value of your vehicle. Glad to hear you didn't get hurt, that is the most important part.

As much as I'd hate for you to lose your car, I wouldn't want anything to do with it after something like that. Even if there was no structural damage, knowing that the back half of my basically new car was unoriginal would bug the hell out of me.

I showed my car (PPW #1276 - named Shiro) the pics and he is very concerned in his brother's condition and glad the driver is ok.

The driver, on the other hand, wanted to put dibs on the rims.

But hopefully a repair is in order and you'll both be back up and running soon!

im not really sure what I would rather - repair vs. new 370, but nonetheless it is not up to me.

I love my car, but cars, definately sports cars, are never the same after a collision and since I used to be a detailer and sometimes do it on the side, I know the repair work will never be up to my standard. I can only hope that if they choose to repair, that the shop takes care of me and does a good job. I will probably see if I can get them to put the HKS exhaust on rather than ordering another Nismo exhaust and will also try to see what else I can get out of this deal if Im going to get screwed on the diminished value.
