suspension?
Ok so I know that the nismo has a different susp setup then stock, but I am starting to look at coilovers, swaybars, and other upgrades. I dont want to get a setup that ends up being less capable on the track as I dont know what aftermarket suspensions are like compared to the nismo edition. Obviously aftermarket coilovers are going to be adjustable with hopefully the option of adjusting dampening, but what should i go with to make sure I havent wasted my money? I am a noob when it comes to suspension.
I've owned both Cusco Zero 2 coilovers and Stance GR+ Pro coilovers w/ and w/out Swift springs...I'd recommend the Stance's to anyone for their z. Either way, if you get a nice set of coilovers such as cusco, zeal, stance, hks, and the list goes on...then the z will handle better than stock...even if its the nismo suspension...
Here's a review I did on my stance gr+ pros w/ swift springs along with some more info about other suspension parts...

Hope this helps!

do a little searching on the forum and specifically, read up on this: https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-...ion-101-a.html
all your questions might be answered in that discussion. not many of the QUALITY (key word) aftermarket suspension components will be "less capable on the track" than stock, whether you have nismo or base.

1. what sort of track use? club-type lapping days, or competition? what tires?
2. what is your skill level? competition licensed driver? novice?
3. budget - $1000 coilovers will not behave like $3000 coilovers, and vice versa.
4. handle better is a very, very subjective term, and frankly, most people would not be capable of knowing better from worse unless it was during a timed event. Define your goals clearly, and honestly, and you'll find the field of choices among stuff worth buying narrows very quickly

I go to VIR as I live in Raleigh, so that is where I will be headed. I have been on the track 2 times and I feel that the z when cornering hard has substantial shift entering corners and significant roll. I like a stiff feel, but then again I am a noob so I dont know all the details. I dont hear much about people just upgrading the shocks? I would like to lower the car also.

The best advice somebody could give you is to do your homework! Your needs in a suspension system will be different than most peoples, and while they can give you advice it all comes down to your preference in the way the car rides. One of the best places you can start out is JasonZ-YA's Suspension 101 (https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-...ion-101-a.html). This will give you a great idea of the basics of suspension and lowering your car, and what exactly is involved.
You need to decide what you want from your suspension. Are you looking to ride low? Are you looking for stiffer suspension? Are you looking in a certain price range? The list goes on. Once you understand what exactly you are looking for, start researching all the products in your budget range to figure out which will best suit your personal needs. The internet is full of information, take advantage of it! What works for one may not work for the next.

Spend your money on track days, tires, brakes, 17in wheels, and an oil cooler. Modding the driver (especially if you only have 2 track days to your name) will drop your times much faster than a trick suspension. The main suspension change needed for the track enthusiast is adjustable front arms to get more camber to save tires and improve cornering.
If you're dead set on lowering, check-out this thread and pm Ataru074 on his track setup...
