Default Stress cracks in the rear bumper

I was wondering if anyone else is getting these annoying little marks in their bumper.

They were there when I bought it. I don't know if something maybe hit the back bumper and caused it or just the weight of the bumper over time. They look way worse in the pitures then they actually do when looking at it.

Is that just in the paint clearcoat or is it in the actual plastic material of the bumper?

I'm thinking the bumper may have been repainted and they didn't put the flex additive in the paint for painting over plastic parts.

Mine is an '07 and there are no cracks like that.

You can barely feel it so makes me think it is just paint. I have looked it over a pretty well and haven't seen anything that shows it was repainted. I feel like maybe someone backed into something of something hit the bumper and just stressed the paint past its flexibility threshold.

It just bugs me because I am a perfectionist.

i have the same stress cracks on my oem bumper except worse. A poor re-paint was the cause of mine & probably forgetting to use flex adhesive in the paint. You cant do much except repainting it or touching it up.

This is unusual.

The rear bumper cover has plenty of room to flex and should not crack. I do not know the history of the car. Has it been repaired? An improper repair may result in stress areas for the bumper, and cause the fractures.

Is that something you could polish out to make it less noticeable? Not that polish would repair or fix anything of course. I know the car being black doesn't really help the situation either.
